We had a friend that we were very close too which was a older Lady that passed away last fall. I was with a few people that found her passed away when she wasnt answering phone calls.
Sheriff was called and coroner took her body away. When her brother came in town to make final arrangements he inquired about her jewelry (mainly her rings she was wearing at the time of passing) and no one could account for them anywhere. So they were never passed down to there rightful heirs. Pretty sad when trusted people take advantage of the deceased for there own profit. I Only hope very Bad Karma comes to the person responsible for the theft of my friends rings! |

Unfortunately its more common than you think. In India I saw a man get into a motorcycle accident and die instantly. Soon another man came running, took off the dead man's watch and reached into his pocket and grabbed his wallet and ran away. He also tried to take off his ring but it think it was stuck so he wasnt able to remove it.

It's sad to say that a large percentage of the population has no regard for the dead. I myself find it comforting to hear the suspect was caught.

Lower than low, unfortunately I've seen similar occurrences in my time on the streets.

That's just deplorable.
Just to be clear, it was not the elected official (coroner) that stole anything. It was a sub contractor or a contractor of the coroners office. If it were the coroner that would be worse in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Having worked in the medical examiner's office I can tell you there are very few bad apples. Nearly every set of remains "in process" at any given moment has a pile of personal effects at the head or foot in a tray, often with sizeable amounts of cash, Rolex or other valuable timepiece, gold jewelry, etc. No one troubles those things. Don't know if it is considered bad luck or bad karma in that department, but I can tell you that there is a very high sense of pride in the work and a strong "esprit de corps."
