Family Watch Collection Story
Hi Guys,
I've been into the 'watch thing' for about half a year now, and just wanted to share my story with you. I was a kind of electronic gadget guy before. The watch collection story started with my father in law bought a pair of Wempe watches (Yes, they're Wempe watches, not watches bought from Wempe) for me and my wife as wedding gift. The watch is unsized and that bracelet screw is glued by Lactite. I tried to size it and ended up scratching the bracelet. And then I brought the watch to a Omega boutique, the sale said they only can size omega watches, and she let me try another watch store in the mall but still no luck. Last November, our family went to New York city for vocation, and dropped by the Wempe's store on fifth ave to adjust the bracelets. When the watch maker was working on the watch, we looked around the store. That day my mother in law was probably in every good mood for shopping. She let me pick up three Rolexes. At that time, I didn't have any ideas about luxury watches. I would say the sale at Wempe was really professional and honest and no push at all. That day I picked up two white Datejust for me and my wife and a pt/ss Yatchmaster for my father in law. I think it turned out a pretty choice, or there's no bad choice when you buy rolex.. Then I started to read forum, articles and books about horology and watch making. I found out this 'watch thing' is really fascinating. It's like a combination of history, art and modern engineering. The joy I got from the research of watches is really priceless. So I will keep on collecting watch and share watch knowledge with my friends. The pictures attached are my watch collection so far. My next goal is SS daytona 116520. Anybody want to share your story? |
