So how do I know when 116520 has reached its lowest price drop?

I am looking to add 116520 SS Daytona to my collection, hoping to take advantage of a price drop on the grey market due to the ceramic version. I appreciate this may be an impossible question but when do I buy to ensure I can get the lowest price? How long do I wait is basically what I am asking? Thanks

that depends if you want a new condition or pre-owned. if you are collecting it, i suggest you buy a new one from AD, you might have a advantage to obtain a New daytona-C faster.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I also wouldn't buy watches based on "price drops" which will inevitably be negligible relative to the overall cost. Get it now if you like it

Pre owned is fine for me also age doesn't really matter. I don't really want the Daytona-C for the time being. That may all change once I get my hands on my first Daytona. I am ready to buy now, I am just thinking should I wait to see what happens to the prices? Or just go ahead and enjoy? I can wait it's not a problem but if there isn't going to be a decent price drop there really isn't much point in waiting......decisions.

I'm going to go ahead and forecast that while the ceramic version will be very popular, there will always be the SS bezel contingency.....think Alum GMT's & Subs... Those will be the people who go to the AD and though it looked good in pics, will hate the new Daytona vs the old... Once that happens, the SS will gain an even larger cult following and prices will climb......

The funny thing is since the daytona ceramic was announced I am loving my SS Black 116520 more than ever. It hasn't left my wrist for past week. Before this it has been in my watch box for 3 months.

Initially I thought of flipping it for the ceramic but i am having 2nd thoughts now.

Pull the trigger now. The drop if any will not cause you to loose sleep if you can afford it now.
116250 being discontinued and all, I would be jumping on a new one from an AD if you can.
If not, get one from the sellers here.
I will guarantee you will not be disappointed either way. It's a stunner.

I bet there will be a very small price drop that will last about a year while the ceramic Daytona production ramps, then after a year the old Daytona, like most sport Rolex watches will steadily gain in price. Just my opinion

You'll know when you start seeing the prices drop. And then if they keep on dropping, you missed it. And if they start going up, you missed it.

Traditionally, though, prices haven't dropped a whole lot on models that have been discontinued. Think pre-ceramic sub, gmt...

The 116500 is so good that when Rolex starts shipping, all 116520, 16520 and 6263/65's will drop on average 75%. Purchasing or holding any of these references can only be deemed as foolish.

I bought mine from a trusted seller here about 6 months ago. It was one month old with some of the stickers still on it for a little over 10k. I am happy with that purchase.

I don't feel any regrets. The reality is that the c won't be readily available for some time and I like instant gratification. Roumer it it will be around 13,500 in the USA plus tax will make it 15000. I bought the white version but I could see adding a black ceramic at some point. I don't see ever getting rid of the one I have now as it is still a classic piece.
