Help me decide, 14060m vs 114060
Should I get 14060m 4-line or a 114060? I like the look of the 4-line with the engraved rehaut which is why I like the 4-line 14060m instead of the 2-line. One one hand, I like the classic shape of the 14060m and still have trouble accepting the maxi-lugs. But on the other hand, the ceramic bezel and glidelock are appealing. I keep going back and forth and need a nudge from the folks on the forum.

Unless side by side, the difference between the cases isn't that obvious. The ceramic bezel and the improved bracelet is an obvious improvement though. My vote is for 114060.

Glide lock is needed on the new one mainly due to the extra weight. I personally would be happy with either.

I own the 114060 and I love it! At first I was also having my doubts about the maxi-case, but that's mainly because of how it looks on pictures (in my opinion). Once on the wrist its perfect and well balanced, especially with the clean symmetrical dial and the technical improvements which make the newer reference more durable. I do however like the more vintage Submariners a lot, like the 5513. But I would wear those on a nice leather strap.
If you want a true answer on your question, you need to try them both on. They are quite different on the wrist and only then you can decide which one you like the most. |

"Love the one you're with"...since I'm keeping my 14060m but the ceramic bezel and greatly improved bracelet make the 114060 an easy choice if you don't have either.

For me, when you've got them both in your hand the differences in bracelet make is an easy choice!

I have owned both and the 114060 is hands down my favorite. The case, dial, ceramic bezel, lume and the glidelock make it my choice. Once you get use to the glidelock it is tough for other watches, even with the easy link, to fit as well.

Have you tried both on? I owned both and the ceramic got zero wrist time. They both wear completely different IMO

Ceramic, beat myself up trying to deciding between old and new for months. Once on the wrist it's gorgeous and you don't even notice those subtle differences. Gotta have the glidelock also.

Well, I noticed the difference! The 114060 is blocky, almost square, and the ceramic bezel is very shiny. It's very well made, and the bracelet is superb, but it is bulked-up, cruder looking, for me anyway, than a 14060. I bought a 114060, sold it after six months, bought another, still couldn't accept that look, and sold that too. Every time I looked my instinctive thought was 'ugly.'
Now I wear a Grand Seiko diver watch, slimmer lugs, matt bezel. I'm a happy bunny. When I've got the money, I will buy an earlier sub, where, again for me, the elegant look still exists. Something like a 5513 really shows where the 114060 has gone so wrong (in looks, not quality). For my taste the current SD4000 is aesthetically a better bet. Slimmer lugs! However, the 114060 sells and sells, so who cares what I think...... |

In comparing the posted photos of my 'm' and 1William's 114060, only the dials seem distinctly different, to my eye, at least. The cases? The lugs look close, perhaps the 'm' is slightly more tapered, but only just.
The new bracelet is by far the biggest improvement, the glide lock clasp gets an 'A' and the ceramic bezel is an enhancement in technology that everyone is adopting. For every 1,000 Subs sold, 999 of them will be enjoyed by people who either prefer the updates or wouldn't think twice about comparisons to the older model. Don't sweat the choice too much, this site will make you neurotic over slight distinctions that don't really matter.

I'm going thru the same thing right now. Leaning toward the 114060. Tried it on and love it.

The bracelet and the clasp alone would be worth it to me.

had both now wear a '74 5512....i'd go for the 14060M...To be honest...the 114060 is a beautiful watch and I loved the chromalight lume and other upgrades but the watch itself was probably the most uncomfortable Rolex i've ever owned IMO...I would suggest going with a 4 line 14060M due to the fact that they were produced for a shorter time and they have the 93150 bracelet which is much more comfy than the 97200...all personal preference but thats my

I just went through this with the same opinion as op. I prefer the classic look, but liked the updates on the newer version. I finally decided to go 5 digit and save the money. I felt the newer version was a bit too flashy. If I ever go newer, I would do the sd4k, I think they nailed that one. Here's mine

First off I'm older,,been wearing a Master II for over 20 years.I have owned 2 Ms and a Ceramic.Loved the Ms but flipped for the new ND for me a big mistake.Just didn't like the bigger feel and that slab clasp that looked like an add on compared to the older style tuna can which I think wears much nicer and looks finished with the stamped clasp.Still think a sub should have them "holes"!!The Ceramic is a great looking watch just not for my 7 1/4 wrist.Oh and the M is much easier to toss a Nato on.

If your OCD than get the 114060 so you don't have to worry about bezel getting scratched plus you have glidelock. If you hate the bigger lugs get a 14060M. I personally like the fact that my 114060 is 40mm but wears like 42mm because of the bigger lugs.

I am an owner and lover of the 14060M two liner. My thoughts are though that if you want the 4 liner and engraved rehaut you may as well just go the ceramic route and get the new bracelet as well.

Thanks for all the input and opinions. Really helpful. The deciding factor may be my wrist size which is small which puts me toward the 14060m.
