Polishing
Question in regards to polishing rose gold. Is it to get polished within 1 year of ownership? What are the drawbacks to polishing?

You can polish any metal you'd like...at any time. The only drawback is that polishing is going to remove a small amount of metal, so there are only so many polishings available before you degrade the overall look of the watch.
Most will tell you on this forum to just polish at regular service intervals, and only by someone that knows what they're doing. And I would be one of those. |

Scratches are inevitable. They do suck but part of watch ownership. Have wrist awareness but don't obsess. Although I say this from owning a ss sub and not a precious metal gold version which is even more valuable :)

Dont do it....
Just do it when you send it to an RSC. Otherwise stay away from polishing. Over time on this forum you hear so many horror stories i would even say op out of polishing even from an RSC.

If you polish each scratch you get daily then thats all you will be doing. I would wait for service and have it done right lots of people won't even do it then it really is a personal preference thing.

Just bought my first Rolex - gmt master 2 and my AD includes one free polish but advised me to wear and enjoy for 2 or 3 years before doing. I find myself being too wrist conscious and just sold an 11 yo Panerai that was nearly flawless.

i called rolex and they will not polish unless the watch is coming in for service.
london jewelers (authorized retailer) advised if you polish within 2 years it voids the warranty. i'll live with the scratches, gives the watch some character..... |
