New used 14060M, Can these minor issues be fixed?...
Just purchased a used 14060M online and received it yesterday. Couple things that bother me with it; Bezel misalignment (misaligned bezels is something that has always been a personal pet peeve of mine), and a big shiny mark on the upper right lug from where the previous owner attempted to buff out a scratch (this was not disclosed to me by the seller, who claimed it was "mint day one condition". Ironically, a small scratch wouldn't have bothered me, but the big shiny mark does.
I have a short satisfaction guaranteed return period, but I otherwise love the watch and would like to keep it if the two issues I have with it are an easy fix. It's a 10 year old watch and I planned on having it serviced anyway. Can the bezel be properly re-aligned? It's a half click off. And can the shiny mark be buffed so it matches the rest of the case in that spot? I've attached a pic showing the mark. [IMG][/IMG] |

10 years old, never serviced, undisclosed ding on the case that seller tried to hide. What else did they not disclose? I would return it...you could be in for a very expensive service.

Ridiculous. A 10 year old watch and that's it? Get your service and fix those two simple things and enjoy.

They are simple issues to fix. At the very least i would bring it to a certified watch maker (preferably Rolex certified) and get them to remove the caseback for a quick visual inspection. If everything checks out your good to go. I would do this with almost every Rolex purchased "online" unless it is from a very reputable seller.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but do I see lug holes? Doesn't that imply this is at the very newest a 2002 if not older??!

To the OP, if the price you paid plus a $600 service from Rolex is still a good deal then I would keep it. It looks to be a pretty nice 2 line 14060

Update - I had decided to keep it and have those 2 issues corrected since I was going to take it in for service anyway, but then I noticed 2 tiny nicks in the crystal. They're very small, and I thought they were flecks of dust at first, but they are not. So that pushed me over the edge to decide on a return. The seller has another in stock, and I'm waiting for them to send me pics and give me an in-hand description. It's a 2006 Z serial 14060M btw. Yeah, I'm specific in wanting a 2006 2 liner.

Another update - instead of the exchange the seller offered to overnight me a replacement crystal for this model that he swears is authentic and is going to reimburse me the cost for me to have it swapped in locally with an authorized Rolex repair person. What do you guys think?
I like the watch except for the things mentioned. So if I can get these small details worked out I'll be happy. An exchange could be a wildcard and I might end up with one with other issues that bother me more. Seller is Gold Watch Co btw |

love marks. i dont think i could buy a mint rolex. it would sit in the safe all the time. thats why i had passed on a mint 14060M that was on the for sale. even now i see different 16570s on the for sale that are mint compared to the one i purchased that was in excellent condition, some at even better prices than I paid. tiny fixes and you can love that watch too!

You're overthinking this. Are you happy with it or not? Nobody can answer these questions but you

I'd return it and get my $$ back, that's three things so far, the bezel alignment is an easy diy fix, I'd be more concerned about any other faults that you haven't noticed yet. Not a bad looking watch but certainly not as described.

I have all vintage. My sub is a 5513. I think your being overly worried about small issues. I personally like the imperfections on a watch it shows its lived a little. I also understand the flip side and some Like them perfect and I know you spent your hard earned money expecting a perfect watch. To each their own. Either way any seller should understate the watch rather then lie just to sell it because then you get an unhappy buyer such as yourself. In your position I'd tell the seller refund me $200. I'd take it in for service and I bet you it comes back as good as new. Rolex can fix any issue for $.

Just simply this the wording Superlative Chronometer not on dial as they were not COSC tested then, but exactly the same movement as the four line model that were tested.

I would send it back. Not represented properly at time of sell. Needs $600-1000 service. Including repairs. Get your money back and contact one or more of the Trusted Sellers here on TRF and find the watch you want.

Well seeing its a 10 year old watch then I would expect some marks if not had any recent service. The OP was going to have it serviced anyway so these tiny tiny minuscule details will rectified at service, then watch will be as good as new IMHO making mountains out of molehills.

I would also return it. It was misrepresented and the seller shouldn't get away with it. By keeping it, the seller will continue to misrepresent watches and get away with it. Good on you for sending it back! I wouldn't deal with that seller again.

Although padi is right as usual in that these are trivial issues, I would return it purely because the seller misrepresented the item. That's unacceptable and far too common in this business.

You know, I would be more put off that the seller misrepresented the watch in his ad than anything else.
What you do with that is your business. But I do not deal with people I don't trust. |

The way I see it you bought a ten year old watch that has not been serviced. Unless it was advertised as LNIB then it's perfectly understandable it would not be perfect. A routine service from a reputable Rolex parts watchmaker will have it like new for about $600. Don't over think it. You love the watch and it is a real keeper. If that was a NOS you'd pay a premium. Also sounds like you should probably stay away from pre owned in the future and either buy new from an AD or LNIB
