Witness to a Historical Event

this conversation topic came up the other evening & curious what others might have selected...

if you had the opportunity to witness one historical event (or mystery) that took place on Earth what would you have chosen?

I was at the 1989 Earthquake World Series in San Francisco, when the game was called due to the damage done to the city by The Quake. It was the first, and only time, a World Series game had been cancelled.

The cool thing was they exited the lower deck fans out thru center field, and I got to touch second base. I never thought I was going do that going to the game!

I was with my now deceased grandfather, and my Uncle. I still have my ticket stub as a piece of MLB history.

The one I do certainly remember witnessing was as a nine yr old our class had the school's tv wheeled in to watch the live launch of Challenger as it had a teacher on board and we had been learning about space. That didn't go well.

I took the opportunity to experience the war in Vietnam--the defining event of my generation.

No regrets.

As for everything else, it was not my time or place.

Funny your brought that up. I was a toddler when it happened. My parents were taking pictures of me and snapped one of the shuttle blowing up in the background. Kinda crazy.

I watched it live. Sad day. I know some former shuttle program guys and they are still haunted by it.

if you are fortunate to be around by 2035, the U.S. government sealed JFK assassination files will finally be disclosed to the public...guess they figured that most folks around at the time will be deceased.

JFK's late widow, Jacqueline Kennedy (who was privy to this information) was once quoted as saying that there would have been a 'national revolt' had the truth been disclosed at the time.
