CK2998? Not!

Don't get me wrong. The 311.33.40.30.02.001 is a beautiful watch and I would not mind having one but the FOIS more closely resembles the original CK2998.

Maybe Omega needed an excuse for another in the seemingly endless progression of Speedy LEs which allows them to use up some of the 39.7mm cases.

My other criticism applies to the horrendous hobnail design of the case back which originated with the FOIS case back:

The design of the pre-moon case back would have been more appropriate and much cleaner. It was a pre-moon back that I customized for my FOIS to commemorate Schirra's Sigma 7 Mercury flight:

Again, I love the 311.33.40.30.02.001 but the purist in me had to get this off my chest.

In hindsight, the FOIS should have been the LE CK2998. I agree that they just needed an excuse for another LE. That being said, I love my new panda CK. It's going to rock with the 1125 bracelet that I have ordered.

Ordering my 1125 bracelet too and the CK-2998 excites me.

Totally see where you're coming from. These "unlimited" editions fail to excite me sadly. Too many variations not to mention large production numbers like the 007 pieces (10,007).

That strap looks great and has me rethinking about keeping mine! Funny how something as little as a strap can change the complete charachter of the watch. I should know this from my PAM days LOL. But those are behind me now...

Funny, I'm more of a bracelet fan, but find this one looks really good on brown leather.

I think the FOIS brown leather would look fabulous in this watch. But I do like it on the brown leather in general. Great watch and 2998 pieces is pretty limited in today's world. The FOIS was "numbered" not limited. I don't recall what number mine is but they seem almost endless. I hope they run out of this case soon.

Oof that caseback is horrendous. How Omega can create casebacks like they did on the Snoopy to then create this one is beyond me...

I kinda like it

I really don't see what is horrendous about the caseback. It looks like a modern version of those found on Pre-Moon Speedmasters.

Sure, the caseback on the Silver Snoopy Award is one of a kind, and it should be. We don't need hand-engraved sterling silver images floating in hand-painted and hand-dusted enamel on every Omega Limited Edition. It's an extravagant expense, and not necessary or appropriate for the "CK2998" LE.

Agree. Not really sure what is "horrendous" about it. I happen to like the retro hobnail pattern.
