Finding out service history
I just sent a pre-owned D series Coke in for servicing in Dallas. I purchased it earlier this year. Will RSC give a History of service for the watch if asked? It has a stick dial and Ive heard they held on to the stick dials and later used those as a replacement dials. The stick dial doesn't bother me. I'm just curious as to the service it has had, if any at all.

They may tell you if they serviced it in the past but I doubt it as it would be tied to personal information belonging to the previous owner. Heck I can't even get RSC to speak with me when my AD sends my watch in.

I took my 16710 to the Beverly Hills RSC and they were able to give my a print out if the service history. What had been done and when. No owner info. The put a new Coke bezel on because my black one "fell off".

So did you buy this watch new with a black bezel? Are you saying Rolex put on a bezel that didnt originally leave the factory with? Ive never heard of that.

I took my 1655 into the local AD for a service on the day that I bought it, mainly for peace of mind because despite all the due diligence, you never know if you have bought a dud. The manager took the watch off me and disappeared into his workshop and came back a few minutes later and pronounce the watch genuine and in good condition - phew. He also confirmed that "a gentleman" had purchased the watch new in the city of Portsmouth in 1981 and had it serviced in 1986 and 1991. He did not give out any personal information on the gentleman and that is how it should be. Regards Mick |
