She's arrived!!!!
Well, to make a long story....errr...less long, here is my tale on how I procured my new GMT IIc!!
About 4 months ago, I got a sudden itch to buy another Rolex (go figure ) Sea Dweller (the first one is part of the long story). So, I began to shop around to find a great deal on one. While perusing this site and going to various ADs, I came across the GMT IIc, and I have to say, that it sang to me like the Sea Dweller never has. So, one Saturday, I brought my fiancee to our local AD to show her my new love. "I hate it", she said, "The numbers are huge, please DO NOT buy that--it is not attractive. I like the other one better". She of course was referring to the Sea Dweller. So, I finally found a Z series SD, was content with it, but still really was drawn to the GMT IIC. A few days after receiving the SD, we were at the local AD again and they had a GMT IIc in stock. I tried it on for fun, and my fiancee had this look on her face......kind of a perplexed and "I'm sorry look". She says to me "you know, I actually really like that one, I think better than the SD!" So, I did what any logical person would do--sold the SD, and began to search for a GMT IIc. Now, I have to send a lot of thanks to Scott in this forum for pointing me to Devon's Jewelers. I called the one in Portland (I was about to go to Portland for a week and figured I could pick up the GMTc if they had one in stock and avoid sales tax), but they didn't have one available. However, they informed me that they could order a new one from Rolex for me and it would take about 3 weeks to arrive. I asked about a discount, and the Assistant Manager informed me that he would have to get back to me. After a few back and forths, I ended up paying $6275 with a 5 year warranty. I had them ship the watch to my friend in Portland (to avoid taxes), and just received it fron him today!!!! I have to say, I am THRILLED and all is calm in my house! And without further adieu, here she is: |

Great watch and you will enjoy that puppy very much. I started a thread titled "She finally arrived", but that was about another matter.

I'm happy that you ended up with what you like.
I like the GMTIIC a lot and I think you will be very happy with that device.
