First Go With Ultrasonic Cleaning

Just started using an ultrasonic cleaner on my bracelet today for the first time. Seems to be working great but only if I run the machine for along time. From the instructions it sounds like 180 seconds should be all that's required but I didn't see good results until I ran the machine for about 24 minutes.

How long do you guys have to run your machines to get good results?

Also I am using warm water and a bit of dawn dish soap in the water.

Cheers,
Andrew

You should use warm water with a jewellery cleaning solution diluted into it.

I would suggest minimum time is 5 Mins. Max about 10.

Don't make the water too hot or run the machine for too long otherwise the combo of too warm or hot water and the long run time of the cleaner itself can destroy the utrasonic cleaner causing the sonic motor to overheat.

I know because I learnt that the hard way and burnt out my cleaner and had to buy another!

I usually run mine for 2 or 3 cycles. I use the ultrasonic cleaner solution available on Amazon. It makes the wifeys diamonds dazzle!

I use a sonic bath for my bracelet and it does well. I then finish it off, as well as with my diamonds, with a Professional Jewelry Streamer...

One compliments the other.

My big ultrasonic is industrial and designed to run for up to 45 mins each hour so I don't worry about burning it up. My little one I run for 10-15 minutes. I use the big one most times to clean my watch bracelets and unmentionable items. The little one I put just warm water in and then use a mixture of 1 tablespoon lye to 1 cup water in a plastic container with screw on lid. I then drop my wife's diamonds, rubies, sapphires, etc in and let it run a cycle. Put on gloves. Pull them out and rinse with hot water and ALL the crud is gone. Please do not EVER put mother of pearl, opal, emeralds, pearls, and such in am ultrasonic as you probably won't have them long if you do. Oh and the steamer...great product and very handy!

You ultra-sonic bath your unmentionables! And need a big bath to do it as well!

Don't you just love modesty.
