Irritated by contentment

I aspire to be content and feel like I rarely achieve it. Ironically at the moment, I've found it in one category, and it irks me.

I really want to want another Rolex, in-part because I don't have any other hobbies and I can only save so much money before I start to get a twitch to buy something.

But darn this Explorer! Especially now that it has a few marks on it and it's become enjoyable and un-stressful to wear, I'm completely content having it on its own. There are certainly far worse fates, but for now I'm a one-watch man, like it or not.

It is so cool being able to be a one watch man. Goodness only knows how many of us try to be a one watch man and failed miserably at it. I have been trying to trim off a few but, darn there is always an excuse to keep it...anyways, congrats and the explorer is the perfect one Rolex forever watch...

It's a fine watch but if you want another Rolex then get a sunburst dial which is Rolex's wheelhouse imho, many to choose from.

Congratulations on being a one watch man! If it could only be one, the 39mm Explorer is an excellent choice. Truly the easiest wearing of the sports watches. Resist the urge for more and enjoy what you have. Cheers!

How long have you had it for? I wore my short-hand explorer I as my only watch for 5 years until I bought a preowned AP 15300 last year. That really started my habit of flipping watches and since then I have purchased 2 rolexes and 1 omega. Sold my explorer too. It has been fun I admit to have a specialty watch like GMT and Chronograph. But they are too specific that you become obsessed to own something else. The explorer was never that. It was simple and beautiful which made me not consider other watches, until I bought the royal oak at least.

I have 4 Rolex and another one is being picked up next week.

I have said many times and will no doubt continue to say, the Explorer is the perfect watch and the one I like best. I am wearing it right now and am enjoying it immensely.

That's exactly how I feel with my YM. The day that it doesn't do it for me I'll move to another Rolex. I don't need two Rolex.

Yep. I've gotten rid of a few Rolex watches, including even a SubDate, because I'm also content as a one-watch guy. I just have no need for another Rolex, and I wouldn't want to wear another Rolex.

Hmm, not sure I agree. I am happy to be content with, and feel fortunate to have, a few of the indulgences I grant myself, rather than always looking for more in the way of material possessions. But then again, I understand that I jumped pretty high, so maybe it is hypocritical to make that statement.
