Servicing & Selling
I'm thinking of selling my GMT LN which I bought 6 1/4 years ago, as I also have a BLNR which gets worn more often.
As I'm a leftie and wear the watch on my left wrist the bracelet has got the typical small scuffs but the case is essentially unmarked. Do I sell it "as is" or get it serviced and cleaned up at RSC and then sell it? MTIA |

A service will set you back several hundred dollars but the watch will come back with a two year warranty if it is done at the RSC. Watch will look like new so it may command a higher premium taking into consideration the two year warranty. I do not know whteher the price will be that much better though and whether servicing will be of any benefit to you as a seller in terms of returns vs selling it without a service.
I suggest you look at secondhand prices of similar 2009-2011 watches with our without a service and see what is best for you. |

I would suggest that getting it serviced will sell quicker and for more money. Will it be enough money to make up the cost of the service? Probably not.
It's hard to judge without pics. I've seen used watches for sale that are two months old and have more damage on them than watches I've owned for two years.

Id pay up for a watch that's been serviced and has the RSC paperwork to back it up.

I say get it done.
When I bought my first Rolex [14060M] I was only looking for one with a recent service and the RSC warranty card for peace of mind. It was worth it..I've had no problems with it.Also it's a guarantee of "genuineness' to an uncertain buyer. You'll get more for it. |

I think a RSC service is closer to $900, so take that into consideration. Personally I would leave it as is.

Yup. There are a lot of Rolex models out there for sale in the second hand market. A servicing and warranty was that yours apart. You might not even want to sell it once you see what it looks like when it comes back from being serviced.

Trade in on the next big thing.
If you sell outright I would not service nor polish.

I would sell it as is. New owner can decide whether to polish watch or not. Non polished watches show how did the previous owner took care of the watch which is really important to buyer.

I have gone both routes. ROI was weak on doing the service pre sale. I agree with others, it does add a nice selling feature, but did not generate much higher price.
I would not do it again before selling, unless there was an issue that needed to be resolved before selling. Let the buyer determine if they want a service and/or polish. |

I agree to leave it up to the buyer and sell as is.
