Rolex sales numbers

Out of morbid curiosity... Is there a way to find out sales numbers for Rolex? Best selling models, margins, etc? I would guess the Sub C is king but would be interested to know what models are moving the most in say, a top 10 list.

No motive, just curious.

Rolex is a privately held trust. You'd be more likely to discover the formula for ColaCola than be told rolex sales numbers.

Rolex is terrible for providing information. You would have better luck getting nuclear launch codes. Rolex is very hush hush about everything.

May your share how you know DJ outsells Subs, especially say currently (in 2016)?

There is no figurative proof, but a general observation around the world. By seeing availability, variation of models, preowned market trends and wrist spotting.

My observation there is a lot of old DJ floating around. But new DJ doesn't seem so. So if we say recently (say in 2016) don't know if Rolex sells more new 36DJ than new subs.

Yep, two functional eyes. DJs are everyone, Subs less common

But there are 4 Submariner sizes too. 37mm YM, 40mm Sub, 43mm SD, and 44mn DS. Top kek.

More DJ models are sold worldwide especially in Asia its Rolex biggest volume seller and has been for decades.At one Rolex was producing over a millions watch units a year thats the complete model range, now it's around 800000-9000000.The the sports range is next top sellers they are the Subs then the GMTs but exact figures afraid no one knows that only Rolex.But today there must be countless millions of Rolex watches in this world today.

We can all believe what we want, but a 'sports' watch such as the Sub will not attract a large section of buyers. Not everyone wants to pretend they are a deep sea diver.. whereas the DJ can be worn in any situation. There are 400 variations of the DJ....that tells us something.
And remember that women are big Rolex customers.The Sub is too 'niche' to overcome these market forces.

Quite a few AD's have told me they sell more DJ's than anything else. I see more DJ's than anything else in the wild.

As there is no reliable source other than what people say and what members have seen, it appears that you will walk away from this thread unsatisfied.

With all of the Rolex knowledge on this forum I'll be we could estimate it pretty close. The consensus seems to be Date-Justs are king (in sales volume). Followed most likely by Subs, GMT's, Daytonas, Explorerers. Seriously I'll bet we could get pretty close if we sat down and gavei it a shot.

Well...if you want data. Rolex submits a large # of their watch movements to COSC for chronometer certification. COSC publishes the number of certs they issue for various companies who submit. The Rolex number can be a proxy for sales... However you will never get brand level info.
