I've been spending quite a bit of time researching hither and yon and the Pelagos LHD has really caught my eye. Sure, it's got a paperback's worth of text above the six, but some details are compelling. Notably the high-noon bezel ring detente and the clasp. I'd love a GMT but who knows if a Pelagos GMT is forthcoming. And titanium.
So, is it a "go" or a "no?" What sayeth the gallery? |

The Destro Pelagos is greatness. A pure tool watch.

I'm 5K short for the GMT II, which I greatly admire, BTW. And for that diff, I think I'd like to add a chrono. Really digging the Damasko DC57, on bracelet, naturally.

There is nothing wrong with the LHD unless of course you really crave a GMT. Consider getting a five digit GMT or a five digit ExpII both of which would provide that functionality at close to the price of the LHD.

Mrs. Ginseng is a fiend for Na Hoku so that's her particular vice. :p
I do have a use for the GMT or second time zone as I regularly travel from east to west coast and out to Scandinavia. By "five digit" you mean from a few years back? I'll look into this. |

I'd take the LHD over the SD43 or DSSD or SubC.

It's a Tudor which make's it an over priced mid-tier watch. Don't buy it and stick to the "Rolex" model brand.

Unlike Rolex which is a mid tier watch sold at top tier prices kept there by really clever marketing and drip feeding supply of new "disirable" models. Don't buy one unless you really want to walk around with a paper bag over your head so as to avoid the the shame and stigma of wearing a cheap £3,020 watch. |

Tudor makes a very very nice watch, definitely buy it. Also very few people have one and that makes it very unique. That watch looks stunning. Don't fall into buying a Rolex just because it says "Rolex", instead buy what looks good to your eyes. I have yet to find a Rolex that I liked enough to buy.

The Tudor Pelagos is a great watch. So much so that I owned the Blue Pelagos and when the LHD came out I bought it also. The watch wears great. The size and weight are great as well as the clasp. For me the Pelagos is a superior watch, have to take price into account, to the DSSD, SD or Submariner. I am into the watch game for 25 years so while I am impressed by Rolex and it is my first love, I think Tudor for the money is the best watch on the market. Only my opinion but it is based on value. Purchase price, re-sale value, fit and finish and they are a great watch to wear. Does it matter to me when typically a newer watch person says a negative about the Tudor brand? Not at all. If I knew half of what I thought I knew when I was a younger collector I would be someone. I would pick up the Tudor Pelagos, wear it and enjoy. Save up and then buy a second watch. I also own the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue and I like it.

Thank you, gentlemen, and especially so to IanMac and 1William for their stories. I believe my mind is made.
For me, the value curve peaks right in the range of the Pelagos, a watch which I feel is significant in its own right. Cheers! |

It's light, legible, comfortable on the rubber strap and the value equation works. Fun and a little different which pulled me in. Congrats in advance.

I think the LHD is a cool watch, best of the Pelagos line. That said if you really want a Rolex there is no substitute. I'd stay that course until you can get one. The suggestion of looking into a 5 digit is a good one, great watches and you have red and black, red and blue and all black bezels as options.

As Per Ian Mac and 1William it is incredible value for money. I couldn't decide between standard black or blue, bought the black, then the blue then along came the LHD......I love all three and I love that the Pelagos is so under the radar.
OP I think you have made up your mind......post those photos when you get it ![]() |
