Your Rolex and your wedding ring
Engagement rings and wedding bands are obviously important and subject of attention and discussion amongst ladies. But what about you men out there? Do you have a Rolex worthy wedding band to go with your watch?
I have always had relatively simple and cheap rings, never thought much of it. For our 21st wedding anniversary (May 11th), my wife wanted to get me a good ring. After visiting the local Cartier store and Tiffany's, I liked and picked up a platinum ring from Tiffany's. I find it too expensive for what it is, just a piece of metal with not much engineering gone into it. But she insists, I need a good ring. Life is short. Why not. I wanted to know how other men feel around here about their wedding rings, and see some shots of yours with your Rolex. Do you adorn your Rolex with an equally worthy wedding ring? My wedding ring is way too big for me now (lost weight). So I bought some cheap rings in different metals (Pt, YG, RG, SS, Ta, Ti) to match whatever watch I'm wearing.

I don't wear rings
I'm single, so it's not really a problem.

The way you're wearing that watch, below your wrist bone, looks like it would be extremely uncomfortable. Isn't the crown constantly digging into the back of your hand?
I have had the same plain gold band (comfort fit) for the last 21 years (married in '95). Never given it a second thought until this thread. |

Over the years I have had to change rings due to weight changes as well. My current ring prior to this is a two tone ring to go with my 16613 ( note how I didn't say 'bluesy'? ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a titanium brushed ring that I got for the price of shipping. I may go to a simple black/grey rubber ring as I like the idea of never having to worry about it when I'm doing manual work. My wife got me my Speedmaster as a wedding gift so the wedding ring is just there to show I'm married.

Wife felt the same way about getting a nice band so went with the Cartier platinum diamond love ring. The rose gold love ring I had from before and I just layer it on sometimes as it goes well with the two tone Daytona. Seems a bit much at times I usually just alternate.

Your Rolex and your wedding ring

How I always wear my watches. For this picture, remember, I had to lift my hand pointing up for the picture to catch both the ring and the watch. I too never thought of it much, but my wife made a point that I wear expensive watches but my rings are always beaten up and cheap looking. I thought she had a valid point there. I know a couple of guys who do that. Not sure how the wife lets them get away with it though!

You seem to have long fingers, so you can pull off the 'layer'ing of the rings. I must say though, first time I am seeing it. Most men I know have a hard time wearing one wedding ring, never mind two at the same time! You are one committed man!

Also beautiful ring on her hand. I know, I don't shy away from manual work around the house or office and my rings get scratched and dinged up pretty badly. That is why I have always liked simple (cheap) wedding rings. With this new one, I need to be a bit more careful and at least try and keep it clean(er) looking. I always thought the same way, it is there to just show I am married, but recently i noticed some of my friends wearing a nicer ring and it looked good on them. Obviously my wife also must have noticed that enough to push for this.

There you go, here is an excuse for you to get yourself a DSSD and go diving for a picture for this thread! Once you take the picture, leave the ring back and come up to surface utilizing decompression valve.

Funny you should bring this up. I got the watch on the left in 1985 and got married in 1988. Found the ring in Greenwich Village. The "model" used white gold on the outside band and yellow gold on the inside. I thought it looked too "Rolexy" and matchie-matchie and had them make mine with all yellow gold.
Cut to six months ago....Now I have a platinum watch and have been considering getting another wedding band made like this one but in platinum. Would that be cool or douchey? I am not sure yet. But I'm not sure a gold wedding band looks so great with a platinum watch, and the watch ain't going anywhere! Picture didn't come out so great, but here they are:

That's not my case. My band is from Tiffany's and dates back to 1947 (70 years old) when my parents were married. My dad died before I was married so it was given to me by my mother for my wedding. We're approaching our 32nd anniversary. While monogamous in marriage I'm a floosy when it comes to watches. This one matches the ring the best. |

I don't wear my wedding ring, it's currently sat in my watch box and has been for years.
Now and then my wife has a little dig and asks if I'm still married. I always answer the same, "yes dear but I'll never find a younger model if I wear the ring".

Here are mine, though I don't wear either yet. For a year, I had been planning to get myself a BLNR to wear on my wedding day. I lived in London at the time, and was crazily hunting one down - I had a loop around Bond Street that I did daily. All the sales people knew me and I would occasionally get sad shaking heads through the window, saving me the trip in. When I got back to New York, I searched a little bit, but had been planning to go the DavidSW route.
About 2 months ago, I made my wedding ring. Started with gold pellets in the morning and walking out with a beautiful ring I crafted myself. Around the corner from where I performed the workshop, I happened upon an AD. Having had a few scotches with the jeweler who assisted me, I decided I'd go take a peak. I asked about the BLNR, but was again met with that familiar 'no' head shake. I asked if I could try on the LN just to get a feel for the watch and the sales woman happily obliged. As I was saying my thanks and goodbyes, another salesman overheard and asked if I could wait just 1 minute. Sure enough, he comes out from the back with a coffin in his hands - a BLNR they just received a couple of hours ago. I immediately took out my credit card and handed it over. While the sales woman rang me up, the salesman was telling that he was in the back calling people off the waiting list, but after 5 or so calls didn't get any bites. Not 2 minutes after that, someone came in, saying he heard they had one through the grapevine and was hoping to purchase it. The salesman and I just started laughing. I had it shipped out of state to my parent's house, so this is the only picture I have of it currently. Just a little more than a month to go until both are mine! I guess the Pelagos will make do for now. TL;DR: Made wedding ring, immediately after found BLNR after hunting for a long time. Took this shot just to send to the fiance and get her approval. A little more than a month before I can actually wear them! |
