Had a few beers with an ex pro com diver
While visiting my in-laws in Florida, a longtime family friend and neighbor, who is a retired professional commercial diver came over wearing his vintage submariner. He has several but this one was really cool with the top hat Crystal. I don't know much about vintage Rolexes but this was a great looking piece! Clearly, he thinks of his watch as a true tool watch. Not a piece of jewelry like most of us do. When he handed it over to me he basically slid it across this rough concrete table. Oh the thought!
We talked about his career and how much things have changed in the industry. He used to do commercial dives in Levi's and a sweatshirt. His deepest dive was 580'! He had some really cool and amazing stories and has dived all over the world. This was back in the 70s and 80s. On off days at sea, he used to be able to fish and bring back the catch to his family after spending weeks and even months at sea. Today they will not let you do that. Too many regulations. Anyway here are a few pics! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
