Rolex Date in pawn

Saw this today at a pawnshop. Hasn't been opened and the bracelet wasn't removed so I didn't get anything other than a picture. Bracelet is not original. They want 2,200
Seems like a lot for this thing!
Thoughts?

Rolex Date in pawn

Looks strange. Refinished dial? Check the sub second markers between 56 and 57 seconds. What size is the case?

2,200 for a date that you can consider head only is way too much.

PS : dial looks original to me.

Is that a shadow or moisture stain between 6 and 7? Dial text looks scratched. Wonder how that happened

Probably just the scratched/scuffed acrylic crystal.

Offer them $1000. You'll probably get it.

2200 is way high for head of an unknown watch from a pawn guy.

Probably get laughed at. 1505s. Not very desireable. But it has a 1560 movement in it worth $1,000 all day long. Gold bezel is a few hundred and probably 400-500 more on the bracelet on eBay. Then sell the midcase and bareback with crystal and crown for another few hundred.

Pawn shops across Texas seem to have the same model. The price tag says $5000, but if you offer $1500 oftentimes they'll take it (or somewhere very near to it), because they only have $750 in it. I don't know how they act elsewhere, but that's how it is here.

i agree. i gasp at what people value these and datejusts at nowadays and we can get our pick of the litter of them any day here in our locale for around $1500 to $1800 with original bracelets. while these and the precisions are some of our favorites i still think most sales listings are very ambitious and bordering on gouging with their listed prices of tired looking watches, and usually head only. some online hong kong dealers are also notorious for listing these common pieces for extortionate prices leading people to believe there is some sort of price/value surge that some of us know isn't reality.
