Datejust 41 trying to decide
I still have no idea which one to pick , I went to the local AD today to have a look but they only had the oyster bracelet blue and white dials in the showroom.
I first thought that I needed a 41 for work so was thinking of getting a plain bezel grey or blue dial on a oyster bracelet , Ive got 3 other rolex on oyster bracelets and a gold daytona on a leather. So now I'm thinking I need a jubilee but if I get the jubilee I might as well go the whole hog and get the fluted bezel. I'm now thinking that maybe I should buy two 41s , one oyster plain bezel and one fluted and on a jubilee. They look so different so could be used for different occasions Is this a normal way to think ? or has my rolex addiction gone too far ? |

Get the classic fluted on jubilee, then decide if you really want to add another DJ to your collection.
I agree, they look different: the fluted/jubilee is more on the jewelry range, and oyster/smooth combo is more on a tool watch range. No harm in having both, but... for me at least, one DJ would do.

Blue on jubilee sounds just the ticket.

Blur or Rhodium for me. Can`t decide whether I like the fluted jubilee or oyster smooth combo, but it would be one or the other for me. Sorry no help here

I bought the fluted jubilee. IMHO I think it looks best. A personal choice obviously.

I'd go with fluted and jubilee. The dial is up to you. I like the jubilee because you don't see all of the scratches like you do on a oyster bracelet. And the way the fluted bezel shines in the light. You will be happy

It sounds like it has definitely gone too far. Why don't you buy the fluted/jubilee combination first to see if that satisfies your requirements. If after six months you still want the plain bezel/Oyster bracelet variant, then get that one also. Whatever you do, don't buy both at the same time.

I had a 2 tone dj 36 with champagne dial and I sold it for a datejust2 white dial and oyster bracelet. I loved it but the scratches bothered the crap out of me. And we all did something stupid for a girl at 1 point or another but damn. The box and papers have to be some hell of a reminder Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Fluted with blue dial or rhodium on domed. Both on jubilee. What a watch!

Why not get the best of both worlds and get a smooth bezel on jubilee?
That would be my pick. |

I have an incoming rhodium dial fluted/jubilee. This is the one that sang to me after trying all of them on. Granted, it is a bit more on the "formal" and "jewelry" side than the oyster/smooth versions, but this is exactly what I'm looking for. Frankly, I don't think you can go wrong with the new DJ 41 in any iteration. They are a total homerun IMO.

I had the same exact dilemma. For the longest time I was leaning fluted/jubilee but I ended up surprising myself and going smooth/jubilee. It just seemed to be the perfect combination. By way of full disclosure, my decision was affected by the comments I read here about fluted being an old man's watch. It wasn't the determining factor, but it did weigh into my decision.

Fluted jubilee on 41mm does not look anything like an old man watch!

I have been leaning towards: Blue/stick/fluted/oyster
It doesn't seem many people like the fluted/oyster combo. |

I struggled and struggled with my decision. Looking back, the decision between fluted/smooth was a really close one and one that I will occasionally question. However, the decision to go with jubilee over oyster is one I will never question. I agree with you that fluted/oyster is the rarest combo. I did consider an oyster for a while, but now I am totally in love with the jubilee.

Love the jubilee and I went smooth bezel as well. Ecstatic with my decision and really can't get enough of this time piece.

That is an absolutely awesome choice! Well done! Don't second guess yourself. In my opinion your choice has great balance and is the best of both worlds. Now enjoy it and wear it in good health.
