A 116710 at £1300 over list with “collectible” marked on it.

Also an older Sub Date at current list with “new price £9900”

Absolute Jokers lol

I’ve chatted to them about wrong RRP and crazy prices. They just shrug it off and essentially say they’re right etc etc.

Now I don’t bother. I’ll never buy from them so avoid the hassle now.

I've emailed them for an explanation. Willfull and blissful ignorance. Surely of the two the sub would be the collectable.

At last browse they had a £9995 HULK and an £8995 BLNR on the visit before.

They assume the buying public know nothing. Virtually all of their watches have no papers. Most are in poor cosmetic condition, and most are BQ Watch wholesale.

I wouldn’t touch one of their watches even at good prices. Paying these inflated prices for these poor examples is crazy.

Any store can make an isolated mistake, but Chisholm Hunter have form for over-stating their comparison prices on pre-owned Rolex.

Like Nairn, I have complained to my local store - in writing and more than once!

There are consumer protection laws in the UK and the company also belongs to a trade body, the NAJ, on whose new Code of Practice I was consulted. It is absolutely right that Nairn and others highlight these examples; no matter what else happens I will collate them and further submit when appropriate.

Any other UK members with a Chisholm Hunter store near them might wish to take a look and report whether they, too, are making such pricing statements (and pics are always vital!).

The Argyle Arcade in Glasgow city centre has a black dials S/S Sky D (new but no stickers and a “spare link” ie sized) for £14,995 or £15,995.

Tried to tell me it was collectable too until I said no, it’s just hard to get.

Came from laings. The seller literally walked around the corner and sold it to CH. He’ll not be getting another one from there.

For some people that kind of money means as much as $9 to someone else. I wouldn’t put it past anyone. Dealer is just out to make money after all, can’t blame them. If no one pays that price after a long time and he wants to sell, he can only do one thing with the price, and that is lower it.

So he didn’t make any comment about the 116710LN being advertised with “RRP £7,500” then?

Its RRP is £6,200.

Is it worth an email back to the clowns’ spokesman?

One might also ask him why he puts question marks after statements, as if he doubts himself. He possibly hopes you are well, but isn’t sure?
