Got the Call!!! :) SD "V"
I enjoy reading the excitement others go through when they get the call so here's my story.
Just picked the baby up. My love for Rolex started years ago when first eyeing up the Sub-mariner. Started comparing it to the Sea-Dweller and the SD appealed more to me. Years went by of stepping into Rolex shops comparing prices and seeing if they had one. Almost bought one years ago when my eye fell on the Daytona. Finally got my hands on the Daytona early this year. Then came the news that the classic SD would be discontinued and I walked into multiple shops to find out they had all sold out and wouldn't be getting any more in. At one shop I was second on the list but they couldn't promiss anything. Today got the call and picked it up. 2 awesome plus points. Its a "V" and the crown is top side up :). Really feels good after years of really looking for and forward to something to get one of the last ones.

Congrats...a V SD is pretty cool...guaranteed to be the last of the last when it comes to the SD. And I hear ya on the 'right side up' crown...I too look for those type of things. It doesn't kill the deal if it's not vertical, but I think it's a plus when I find one (I guess it's my A.D.D. coming out). Cheers.

Very nice, congrats. I think there will be some really bummed guys out there who thought they got the last serial numbered SD'ers.

Will try and get some pictures done tonight when I get out of the office. Keeping her new in the box for a while, just to add to the feeling. Very happy with the Daytona on my wrist for now.

Good for you! On a related note, I wonder - does a V-serial mean the SD is still being made, to run in parallel with the Deep Sea? I though the standard SD had been discontinued?

You tell us? The SD and DSSD are two completely different watches IMO and will probably appeal to those looking for a different watch-wearing experience. I've owned both, and for me, the DSSD is a better fit...but the SD is a sweet watch and I hope to put one back in my collection someday. Ultimately, only you can decide if the watch you have is the right one for your needs/desires. Cheers.

Would love to see some shots of the watch and yes a shot of the V serial on the watch would be cool.
Congrats on the SD you are going to love it.
