Price for SS Daytona

Hi,
I want to buy a SS Daytona white dial for couple of month now; following the For Sale section in TRF and TZ, it seems the price is going down a little; I saw this in TZ yesterday - http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...5512&rid=80040, M serial $8450 DELIVERED overnight insured! $1500 under MSRP?
Anyone know any AD has it? I still feel more comfortable buying from AD. I guess face to face deal is OK too.

Thanks.

He is >2 year member of TZ but check references always (really check them). And if possible, face to face is best. Its a great deal. Shows how dead the watch market is now. Great time to buy.

That is an excellent price, I paid $7900 for my Z model from an AD about a year ago. To have an M for 500 bucks more is a very good deal. It looks a tad bit used, but certainly nothing glaringly wrong.

Best deal I have seen for a late serial SS Daytona to date.

Go for it, but be very careful and do all the due diligence.

With that being said, this one is too cheap in my opinion or has the SS Daytona market softened up that much?

Hi, I buy from Australia all the time. Now I don't want to rain on the parade but where in Australia have you paid US$6600 for a V series when the RRP is considerably higher than that..
What was the Aus $ price paid before your 9.1% GST refund?
Regards,

Yea...that is one heck of a price...too bad already have one.

Duncan is real...have met him in person in Highland Park. At the time he was wearing a rose gold AP...~60K, driving a Escalade.

Also like to add Duncan and one of local Dallas Rolex broker both knows each other very well...

Hi All,
My first post on this forum! More about me later.

Did you end up with that watch? I happened to be up when Duncan first put that ad up on Friday night. I emailed him within an hour saying that I'd take the watch as long as it didn't have any swirls a Cap Cod cloth couldn't take out. Ended up going out for breakfast Saturday morning but wondering why I hadn't heard back...at 2:30 AM I must've been the first one to say yes, no? Got home and decided...hey, let's check the spam folder! Duncan had emailed me at 3:00 AM to say that I could have the watch and told me his preferred payment method. I emailed him back around noon to let him know that I would have to wire on Tuesday but would gladly put a deposit of any amount down. Unfortunately for me, he had already sold it when he didn't hear back from me that morning. :( Overall, he seemed like a straight up person to deal with, maybe next time I'll remember to check my spam box earlier!

I'm not too worried that I missed completely though. The prices do seem to be coming down quite a bit due to a cooling demand. My AD had offered a black face at MSRP and 0% finance with no wait...passed on it because I wanted the white face. Found a white face Z serial that eventually sold for $7,500 (I passed again and kinda kicking myself for that one), but did see another M serial, white face BNIB (non-AD) go for $9,500, but sitting for 2 weeks before it did sell.

This isn't exactly how I imagined my first post, but I guess, hello everyone!

Alex

All true, but buy the seller as much as the watch! This is a good price, but I would be doubly careful as a result.

I am a firm believer of the ole saying of "if it's too good to be true..."

However Duncan is local and we've met once...could have easily saved $2k.

But hey...it's only $$$$, yes.

$6600 for a 116520.

The dealer must have won the lottery and was givin' Rolex love to all that day.

Are we saying he's confused with the currency price? Maybe ? If not can we confirm the correct spelling of .......R-O-L-E-X D-A-Y-T-O-N-A .......it's a simple mistake!!

My bet's on the currency exchange game. $6600 USD would convert to about $9900 AUD at today's exchange rate. Not sure what the MSRP price in Australia is but if all Rolex did was change USD to AUD then that wouldn't be too far off.

I didn't look for one when I was in Sydney back in October, but I did look in Cairns. The one dealer didn't have any then, but did have plenty of stock for everything else.

Hi, chenx15:
What is "modifed" TT Daytonas?

Thank you all very much for the comments. Normally when you ask for reference, how many did you ask? I have never done this before. Thanks.

I paid A$11360 before the 10% GST which is refundable when you leave the country and so I paid a total of A$10224 and based on the exchange rate of 0.65, its US$6645..
Its brand new in boxed as from a ROLEX AD.
By the way, this is before the 10% price increased last month..for Rolex watches in Australia.

The brand new SS Daytona for 33% off? Highly unlikely, even in todays market. Maybe 10% but no way 33%.
If so, the whole Rolex market is collapsing and we are all flying to Australia for the weekend.
