Rolex Datejust.....Decisions please help!!

Hi

I am new to the forum.

I am looking to purchase my first Rolex before christmas, brand new for AD and as i currently wear a Breitling Colt, i am lookin for a dress watch.

I have almost settled on the datejust tt with a diamond dot dial for the following reasons.

Yachtmaster: My two friends have them in my favourite dial colours.
Submariner: Due for a change in model soon?
GMTII: Do not like the bezel, also a little too sporty after the breitling.

It was basically between the Yachtmaster tt and the datejust as both are watches i like at a similar price.

I was thinking a jubilee bracelet wit a black jub dial to set off the diamonds although i have never physically seen it, has anyone got any opinions?

The dial i tried was gold but they seem to be very common.

Any advice or opinions would be great, also photos of tt datejusts if poss.

Archie here.... DateJust is a great way to go.....
Archie say GO FOR IT! - you will then have the same watch as Archie ! (and that can't be a bad thing)

DateJust in TT will also get a much bigger discount..... TT DATEJUST usually get a very good 10-20% off min!

My DateJust is model 16233 .... this is a touch smaller than the current model 116233.
Mine is from the early 90s.... and still looks great......

The DateJust is certainly a keeper.... and with diamonds...... WOW

Between a DJ and YM..
DJ for sure as a dresswatch. DJ is the most common model out there in the wild. However it is THE most regonized model among Rolex.

Definately a Datejust. I have a SS that I just love. Since I don't dive, fly much, climb mountains, race cars nor boats all the featurs offered in the other models are superfluous. I am going to get a new Subbie when the new models are released!

personally I like the datejust in ss with a white face and diamond bezel. also the large silver roman numerals make an impressive combonation.

A TT DJ is the perfect dress watch. You could also get away with a TT Sub with the black face. They will have a new Sub out but that won't make the current one any less of a watch.

A TT Datejust would be a great watch. I personally favor the ones which have the roman numerals on the dials. As to color, this should be your own best estimation of which would go best with the clothing you typically wear. Best of luck.

Any opinions on the jub dials?? esp in black?? photos would be great! i like the MOP Yachtmaster looks great but how much extra do u pay for a MOP dial??

The Jubilee band is the most comfortable. The oyster band, for me, is less comfortable and is prone to more scratches. I like the Roman dial or the "Thick" marker dials in either white, gold, or silver. Man, these are a beauty. (You can still swim with these, and do some snorkeling too. . . . . or wear em into the sauna / steam room.) I hardly ever take mine off.

I have a SS DJ 116234 as well as a Sub. The Sub is likely to be re-designed shortly but my bet is that it will not be as classic as the current Sub.

You can't go wrong with any DJ in my opinion

My opinion - jubilee, black or white dial without diamonds, stick markers. Probably one of the more standard, but classic, combos.

What a nice picture. I have an exact same one. Very clean and more sportier look with the smooth bezel and oyster band, reasons for my choice. For a dressier look, I'd suggest a fluted bezel, jubilee band, black dial with fat stick hour markers. You will be able to read the time at night also. I like Roman numerals, but they are as readable against the black background as white. They are not illuminated either.

I agree that the Oyster bracelet and smooth bezel as a sportier look. The Oyster bracelet also feels very nice !
