Watch is genuine.
Some "strange" corrosion or possible dirt to bracelet, that I would want to see.

Wow. Thanks guys. I just have this nagging feeling that it’s not authentic. But I know where he purchased from etc. and the pictures seem off or I’m just being paranoid since this is a big purchase and potentially being fake and losing thousands.

I am pretty confident movement, dial case are genuine - no worries there.
Bracelet has some corrosion - not sure if its just dirt.
BUT
If you are NOT 100% sure and happy do NOT proceed

Thanks. I got him to lower to $6500. Is that worth it for investment, or to flip after wearing it a while.

Yeah, the crown side lug (Left) looks like it was Re-contoured/Polished eliminating the bevel on that side. This is not uncommon. That side is more prone to impacts and scratches that are subsequently polished out. The lug still looks pretty thick, so if you can get the price-point you like then......

Just a shadow/highlight, IMO. Watch looks good, and case looks very strong (possibly unpolished).
Looks like the 9:00 side of the case even has the original sticker intact. Just needs a bath!

If you zoom in on this pic, it looks like the the clear protective sticker is intact on the side of the case, but could just be (another) optical anomaly I susppose:

Any reason why you wouldn't want to take it in to be checked out before the purchase? I assume your friend didn't purchase it from an AD, which is why you're questioning the authenticity? It would be worth to take it in, then you'll both know for sure. If you do end up buying it, your mind will be left at ease and not have this nagging doubt in the back of it. :)

I probably will get it checked out. I was actually at the place when he bought it I just found out he lost the box when a hurricane hit Coney Island. He has all paperwork except box, which sucks. It’s also never been serviced never polished or anything he said. I’ll see it again tomorrow and will really take a good look. I don’t acually buy this cause I like it. I buying it cause I rather have some money tied up in something that appreciates in value so this is a nice item to hold on too.

Yeah I think optical anomaly it is lol. I don’t think there are any stickers on it. I’ve tried it on a few times months ago don’t remember the protective stickers being on it.

One more thing guys. What’s 16170 bnro this 2007 model is the gmt master 2 16170b model right. Why do some call it the bnro. I thought that was only the new models with the new “ceramic” or cerohome. Something like that. That is labeled BNRO. Opps I mean BLRO. I just assumed that label BLRO is for the new one.

No, it has been the internal designation for the different bezel colors/options for quite some time (not just for the newer models).
BLRO is simply an abbreviation for "Bleu/Rouge" (blue/red). The black-only bezel is LN for "Lunette Noir" and the black/red "Coke" had no suffix.

The ID on the papers separated them with an A/B/N suffix on the reference number:

16710A = black/red
16710B = blue/red
16710N = black

Yes, it does have the plastic on the sides. On the one photo you circled, the left side shows the plastic edge curled up and peeling.

All blue/red GMT watches are BLRO, doesn't matter the year.

Thanks for the clarification. But i think the curled up peeling you see is just reflection.

Buy the watch. Everything depicted in your photos are from a genuine watch, from the dial, bezel, bezel insert, bracelet etc. The price is definitely below market.

Once home, give it a good cleaning.

You are NOT Going To See A Price Like That Again. Lately, GMT prices seem to go up every day.

What kind of a friend would sell you a fake Rolex?

I mean if you have to ask about this I'd be questioning the friendship as much as the watch.

I doubt he would sell me a duplicate of a real one, but in my world, its survival of the slickest.

My friend just dropped it off to me. If everything is good after I bring it in to authenticate I will own my first Rolex. All the pits on the picture is just dirt. Very minor scratches and just needs a cleaning. Better shape than I expected and smaller than o expected since the pics were zoomed in.

Yup, like JP mentioned above, buy it! As you mention, it definitely needs a bath. However, that is something you can do in about 10 minutes with warm water, dish soap, and a soft-bristle toothbrush. A spring-bar tool would help as well, so you can remove/clean the bracelet and head separately. I would also pop the bezel to clean the accumulated gunk underneath. If you have your dealer/jeweler/RSC do it, I would just make sure stipulate a cleaning and NOT a polishing, but YMMV there.

Oh, and just curious: Was that a sticker on the 9 o'clock side of the case?
