Rolex Tropic 21 Domed Crystal-Daytona 6263

I had been on the look-out for a long time for an NOS Rolex Tropic 21 domed crystal for my 6263 .... and I finally found one! The Tropic 21 service crystals are fairly easy to find, but the original domed version ain't.

I'm posting this in part because I couldn't find a visual comparison between the two crystals during my search, but the difference and feel is significant.

The first three photographs show the new domed Tropic 21 (expertly installed by Phillip Ridley at Watchmakers International), and the last photo shows my watch with the service crystal. Note the sharp edge of the service version. The domed version gives the watch a bigger overall feel/look, and perhaps more importantly, is the way it would have looked when it left the factory.

Well worth it. Like with all original domes it just adds so much charm.

Thanks, all! I pretty familiar with domed crystals on vintage Subs and SDs, but I'm surprised at how different and how much better a Daytona looks with an original Tropic 21. I'm all about wrist presence, and this does indeed make a big difference!

I'll give you $50 bucks today only, straight up for the 21.

For the watch, I'll double the offer plus an unopened, Snickers bar!

Well, I uploaded the images via TapTalk and they show up properly in the app post but when you look at the website, they do not appear.

Weird.

Been noticing that all over the Forum Today.I’m hoping Tapatalk isn’t pulling a photobucket and making users pay for picture hosting on Forums.

Someday you will see the light.

Black is best!

Plus it makes for a better pair with the one you kicked to the curb!

If we are talking exotic dial 6263...Cream!

If we are talking non-exotic dial 6263....Black!

Why?

Paul Newman....Black

Ryan Seacrest...Cream

Ha!

Kidding of course.

I would kill for Aaron’s piece.
