Loooongtime Listener ... First Time Caller!

Proud to share that after years of lurking, I've finally bought myself my very first Rolex! It's what I've been after since I first discovered Rolex (and this forum).

It's the perfect accompaniment to my Speedmaster that I've been wearing exclusively for the past five years, and wanted a pop of color as the perfect partner for my under-the-radar, all black Speedy.

I remember getting the itch for a new watch after a few years of the Omega, figuring the PO blue dial would be my match and thinking Rolex was for the stereotypical bluetooth businessman who waited to conduct business on the plane so everyone can listen in on his machismo. Or so I thought! First learning about this reference led me to the Rolex Forums, where I truly lost I've lost it and remember saying to myself, "I can't believe I'm even entertaining the idea of a Rolex," and pardoned myself enough to create a log-in just so I could lurk and have the computer remember what I've read or not read. And of course one thing turned into another and I evolved throughout what we all see as the natural progression of understanding the brand.

Over the three years as a member, I've literally scanned through every page of at least the Rolex board and have been lusting after this piece to the point I created an album on my phone, capturing every shot of the reference that I loved.

I've gone through various life stages since I first joined - bought a home three years ago, welcomed a baby daughter last fall and rising the corporate ladder - all took priority where spending this money on myself was not responsible or even possible. Now, I feel I've made it and am able to sleep soundly at night after forking it all over in cash, knowing I can still provide well for my family and am settled while respecting the id that is my WIS-dom.

I haven't posted barely at all here as doing so before being an owner made me feel like "that guy" who hangs at the dog park but doesn't have a dog. I'd love to contribute more to the group here and engage with the only community who "gets it."

Thanks for reading this far (if you have) and I raise my wrist to many more years of happiness and fulfillment.

Great post! Glad to have you and you picked a WONDERFUL watch to add as a complement to the Speedy. I absolutely love the blue dial and I think the yellow gold TT really goes well with it!

Looking forward to seeing you around TRF, and I will be completely honest with you - that watch itch tends to happen again but in something with a crown.

Love the Ceramic Blue Submariner! I want to get one also, but have only the 5 reference number version from 1999.

Excellent taste. I wore a Bluesy for 18 years. It’s a stunner.

Congrats! Great to hear your story. A TT is what brought me into the fold and started the pursuit of shiny objects, like you, coming originally from an Omega. You have a modern-classic beauty. Wear in good health!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and good wishes!! I’m biased but agree it’ll be a great pair, at least until a third wheel comes along (no time soon for sure, I promise!). And thankfully my wife has been supportive of my journey as she understands what this means to me and knows I have my life priorities in proper order.

And I’m not used to hearing “great pair” from a bunch of guys but in this context, I’ll take it!

Nice watch intelligently acquired.

Is that a Remington in the background?
