Steel Daytona Ceramic Sanity Part 2

Hi

I recently got your opinions on buying a steel ceramic white dial Daytona from Watchfinder, I've now got some figures and your thoughts would be appreciated;

7 year old DeepSea 7500 GBP trade in
2 year old Daytona 116500LN white dial c/w box and papers - 16950 GBP
To pay - 9450 GBP

I popped into a new Rolex boutique in London and was told the waiting list for a steel Daytona was 25 years

Thanks

Nick

Nope. Of course not. Keep your deepsea.. Save more money. If they discontinue it, you will be a big winner.

You must be very very thirsty to do that trade and pay that top-up. Can you live without the Daytona?

To be fair, that sounds like an ok offer from WF to part ex a 7 yr old deep sea. If you want the watch, I’d probably do it. I’ll take the wrath of the naysayers, but if you are not on a list now then you are looking at a long wait.

Value wise it, of course, doesn’t make sense, but since when has any of this made sense. I did a similar thing and it’s the best move I’ve made. If the money is no real concern and it will make you happy then you should.

I sense you want to do this given you have asked twice. I say go for it

NO WAY! 17k for a used ss Daytona, because they added ceramic to it.

Just curious why you would go from a DSSD to a Daytona as daily?

I wouldn't do it. It's not a fair trade.

Have you not look around as last time I checked WF were by far asking the biggest premium of all the grey dealers and have recently been buying in at around the lowest trade in values.

Good px price on the Deepsea, but I’d still never do that deal.

Sounds horrible on the face of it but the DSSD price could be much worse, you sure you can't find a better price on the D500, under 16K?

25 years?!?!?!
That takes ridiculous presumption to a new level, to throw out a number like that.
Why the AD didn't just say "impossible?" It would be closer to the truth.
If there truly is a sheet of names, that are waiting twenty-five years for a watch, I have to re-evaluate my concept of reality.

I always say life is too short but honestly that exchange is just too much.
Look at what £9000+ can buy you, another SS or a TT Daytona. If you get another Rolex and after a while stop wearing the Dssd you might go back to it and love it again.
