Blacklisted by Rolex

Has anyone here been notified by Rolex (not an AD) that they were blacklisted? How were you notified? Why were you blacklisted?

I'm guessing this stems from your post here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...0&postcount=63

If so then I don't understand the question being asked since even you yourself don't believe Rolex has the time or care to chase down individuals who sell their watches.

Probably inevitable given I’ve heard from multiple ADs that Rolex is now tracking buyer details of sought after watches. Pair that with the recent threads about them tracing back watches that have been flipped to buyers and ADs, I assume at some point they will start implementing a blacklist.

It’s seems some forum members believe that if you are identified as a person who is selling a sought after reference, you could be blacklisted by Rolex.

I don’t believe that is true, so I wanted to confirm Rolex does indeed blacklist such individuals

That is correct, I don’t believe it at all, and I believe anyone should be able to sell their watch anytime they want without being told by an AD that they will be blacklisted by Rolex if they are identified.

The purpose of the question is to find out if anyone has a actually been blacklisted, or it’s just a myth.

If it were true (which it isn't), how an earth would Rolex (the company) impose such a blacklist? Find out all your private details and reveal them to every AD on planet Earth?

You will get someone that says it can happen. No one will show proof. You will see lines in this thread like I got a harsh warning etc haha

Please someone prove me wrong and show proof you are blacklisted.

That’s exactly why I started this thread!

Where is the proof?

I agree with you 100%

I’m just tired of this blacklist notion showing up when someone what’s to sell their watch.

This reminds me of a mate who used to download movies from the Internet. He was sent a 'cease and desist' letter from Warner Bros. That's piracy though, not legitimate purchasing...

As you mentioned, that’s piracy.

But getting blacklisted for selling your property?

They sell roughly 1M watches per year with roughly 10~20% of those being Professional models in (somewhat) high demand. Tracking 100,000 to 200,000 watches (or 275 to 550 per day) would be impossible.

If an individual had been blacklisted by Rolex SA and completely unable to purchase any watch at any price from any AD worldwide, we'd have heard about it by now. Rolex doesn't even record buyer names when warranty cards are swiped so it doesn't seem possible for them to easily track individuals. Plus, any name can be put on a card since watches are often purchased as gifts.

Once a watch has sold, it's no longer considered Rolex property. A resale contract would be required otherwise.

Blacklisted by an AD, sure, that's certainly possible, but not Rolex. Not yet, anyway.

Rolex will not blacklist you, its the AD that will blacklist you. And by blacklist it just mean that you won't be on any hot watch wait list anymore even if you were the next in line to get the SS daytona. You can still walk in and buy whatever DJ or PM model they have in the case at the time, but no more getting on the list.

Well of course there's the well known John Cena case, but that was breaking an explicit contract.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/th...resale-lawsuit

Until Rolex imposes the same criteria when purchasing one of their watches, they have no right to tell you what you can and can't do with YOUR watch.

As odd as this thought may be, has anyone even been asked to show an ID when buying a watch? Silly.

I wouldn't be surprised Rolex will start this practice. Rolex can do whatever they want and people will continue to be "yes, sir"

That’s true.

But, my point is, you are not banned from buying a Rolex, by Rolex, as some forums members seem to believe could happen.
