Confession time
I was almost an idiot. Some of you have seen my gorgeous ‘72 red sub. I traded for a 43mm sea dweller...and a credit...I had it for 10 minutes and realized what a grave error I made. Not that it’s not a modern beauty but too heavy and awkward for me...thankfully, I have a good rapport with the dealer and reversed it within hours...Sub is coming home tomorrow.
Been a tough year and lost perspective temporarily. |

Thankfully I regained perspective within hours. Modern are nice to look at. I’m a vintage guy. I should know better by now. 3 days of no sleep = don’t make watch decisions.

Been there a couple times myself but much later on the perspective clarity. Finally getting better at it though.
Post a photo of your 1680. |

Damn.
Yeah, glad you reversed that deal. The SD43 has nothing on that. |

Personally, there’s not a chance I would have ever even considered that to begin with, even better you were able to get it back...you avoided a potentially awful way to learn a life lesson and honestly, considering the market on your watch, I’m surprised he agreed to reverse the deal, speaks to the character of the shop

I did the same thing, not with a vintage reference but, sold my 16600 for a 116600...literally regretted that decision damn near immediately..sold it, bought another, way nicer 16600...never will I do that again

16750 gets my vote only because wheeling the time around on a 1675 just to set the date gets old, especially if it's a watch in rotation with other watches. I wanted a birth-year 1675 for the longest time until that part of it drove me nuts. But, that's just me.

I'm not really much for the vintage watches, but that is a beauty and I'm happy you have it back on the wrist.

Glad to hear you have such a good relationship with your dealer that you were able to keep your red sub. I think you made the right choice on both a sentimental and monetary value perspective. They’re not making any more red subs that’s for sure.

have to say exchanging any 1680 for SD 43 is not something I would do but adding SD 43 is. Glad you reversed the call...:-)

Very good call, glad to hear its returned. My vintage watch collection is not very big (I started off collecting modern watches but now it's all sold to buy vintage watches instead) but I will never understand how or what people like about modern watches once they have tried on a vintage one. Whenever I can purchase my next watch, and the one after that, it will only be vintage.

Good reverse - smart choice.
If it was the folks over in GCity - they are good people
