You can blame the crazy prices on those willing to pay crazy prices,and while this trend continues most all hard to get Rolex will end up on the grey market.As today Rolex are no longer watches they are now just thought of as ££££££$$$$$$,by many of today's so called Rolex collectors. In many ways the WIS type has made a rod for his/her own back.

And it’s not even new

I imagine that many of WF’s client are either city boys (or girls) with big bonuses or tourists from maybe the Far East or US that are capitalising on a very cheap £ rate.

When I was looking early this year, WF wanted more for a marked, second hand Hulk than other greys were selling new ones for.

Around a year ago, my AD gave me a discount on a new Polar which brought it in the same as WF were asking for a year old used one.

It's bonkers. But if they can find the buyers then they should take their money. Why wouldn't they?

That is true - however, WF are the best known grey who advertise on telly etc. That being the case, people will choose to buy from them even if the price is a little higher assuming the choice is between them and a grey they have never heard of.

WF also have boutiques in the square mile and Canary Wharf where some people will buy what they see I guess and have little issue with spending a grand higher than they could if they shopped around.

Extortionate price, getting worse the prices are increasing. Having said that people are purchasing at those prices which will drive the greys to increase their pricing on the sought after models.

DavidSW has a similar one for $20675 (£15830). That £4K difference would buy return business class flights to NY for you and the missus, have David deliver to your luxury hotel room

People will get use to it. The SS Daytona started it and most learned to accept the higher price over time. It’s no different with any other Rolex in demand.

I keep a close eye on certain models at WF.

Most of the SkyD have been on sale for many months (Inc the Black and white SS).

They are usually open to sensible offers though.
Bought my wife's YM from them and got a decent discount and a very good px of her Omega.

Brand new BLNR seem to shift fairly quickly at up to £10,995 though.
And they have got a SABLNR in at £95k!

I recently paid £10k for an SD4k in london. I missed the boat when they were released and the prices seem to be on the up. I wear the watch daily and don’t regret the decision to buy as I don’t plan on selling it.
The Rolex SS shortage at the moment is unheard of.

Heh, nice idea, although there is still the small matter of the 20% VAT to pay as you bring it back into the UK which would increase that £15840 to £18995, so you only have £1k to cover the return flights and hotel, so it's not going to be business class or a luxury hotel.

Unless you don't mind taking a gamble on smuggling the watch through customs and pretending you bought it somewhere in the EU, if challenged.

Watchfinder have been a pretty good company to deal with in my experience, once you get over the fact that they're really expensive. I certainly wouldn't be paying them £20k for that when a brand new WG OF version of the same watch lists at only 10% more. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if someone who has £££ and wants to get a new watch this weekend, might pay that much.
