Baselworld 2019

Is it too early for predictions? Maybe a little... but here goes. I'm sure Sub's are gonna be the focus, and my guess is new 70 hr power reserve movement, Black Subs will get RED SUBMARINER text (like the SD43) as a throw back, and HULK in stainless is done and replaced by a YELLOW GOLD HULK. Soooo what do you think? Am I way way off... crazy... any other predictions?

They'll discontinue the Batman. Seeing that they will keep the classic GMT and the new Pepsi, it is only a logical move to remove the Batman from the mix.

Submariner text will turn to red is my guess too. Explorer 2 will get a ceramic bezel, discontinuing the old one.

Discontinuation of the Smurf.

Not at all. Someone started a thread of Basel '19 predictions the day after Basel '18.

I have two questions which i'd love to see an answer to:

1. If the Explorer II is released with a ceramic bezel wouldn't that make it very identical to the GMT Master II. At the moment the Explorer II has its own identity.
2. There has been talk about a Tudor GMT 58. Wouldn't this negatively affect sales of the current (hard to get Tudor GMT) negatively? Wouldn't another Tudor GMT (same case) make more sense? Like a Tudor BLNR!?

OH, I hope the Smurf doesn't go... ceramic Ex2 would be awesome!

You're right. Very few will ever be able to get one anyway. I've kind of lost interest in these things.

SS Coke, BLNR will be discontinued as a result.

Exp ii will get an update in 2021 to coincide the 50th anniversary.

I think it would be pretty cool if Rolex could get more of the 2018 releases on the street...I don’t understand the business model! Are you kidding me??

Imagine if a car manufacturer operated under the same business practices?!? I know Rolex doesn’t focus on mass production, but Henry Ford would roll in his grave!!

Not one bit. People are still waiting for watches from 2015. And even to get on an AD list for watches released in 2015.

This, unfortunately. Unless you're a VIP, new Basel models may as well not even exist.

Does anyone think that Tudor is going to do some sort of smart / connected watch?

Many of the Rolex announcements from Basel 2018 are now casually available at stores. More than the hottest two or three watches are announced each year.

Don’t know about a yellow gold hulk . . But someone has to be right and someone has to be wrong. Who’s the clown that said there would never be a Rainbow diamond Daytona . . . I would love to laugh in his face right now!! Lololololol!!!!

(Pretty much a yellow gold sub with a wrong color bezel and an extra hand)

Doubt it...Henry Ford revolutionized the manufacturing process aiming to lower costs and put cars in as many driveways (barns?) as possible...not exactly Veblen mentality.

Enzo Ferrari, on the other hand, might be a better comparison

A member here did a mock-up a few years ago. If this ever does come to pass, I might just have to sell that extra kidney I've been holding on to.

That looks amazing. I hope they don't make it. I'm still rather attached to my internal organs.
