Tudor 76100 Inquiry - Production Dates and Hand Question
Looking at Tudor Subs, specifially 76100s.
From my limited knowledge, these were produced starting in 1984 with lollipop hands. Some sources state they were only produced in this year and configuration. However, I come across many between 1981-1988 (on HQ for example) with both types of minute hands, lollipop and Mercedes style. https://www.hqmilton.com/timepieces/search?q=76100 However, from the following article on Tudor Subs, I read the following: Production of the 76100 can be placed around 1984, which was a great year to be born, it could be a cool, rare and pretty interesting watch to celebrate one’s year of birth. I was born in 1982 so don't really care about the 1984 aspect. https://www.fratellowatches.com/tudo...ical-overview/ So, what were production years and what were the correct hands for these years? I was set on replacing the 1680 I sold a few years back, but prices make my eyes water and considering Tudor as an alternative. |

I don’t know if you have seen my 76100 but I want to say that it’s such a cool watch. I wear it daily, it was an unexpected find and I am so glad I did.
In my research once they get in the late 80’s before the 79090 they used some Mercedes hands. Look at the two NOS 76100’s on Eric Ku’s website - 10pastten.com . From what I can tell those were untouched all OG. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Very nice! I was looking into 76100 when tekno posted about one for sale in the Omega Forums (in another thread). That one had mercedes hands - and I had thought that 76100 came with lollipop only. OP, I too had that question. Quick digging on the internet states that they were produced with lollipop hands, and if 76100 came with Mercedes hands then they were likely to either be service hands that were replaced, whenever Tudor switched to the 79090 in 1989, or the last transitional model of 76100 in 1989 |

Tudor 76100 Inquiry - Production Dates and Hand Question
If you buy a watch and need a lollipop hand to repair it I know where you can get one. He has some that have a heavy patina and some that need to be relumed.

I sort of agree that some of the later (maybe '86ish thru '88) ones used Mercedes hands from the factory, but still not positive. |

Did you see the watches on Erik Ku’s site? That 88/89 is OG I think.
Regardless if your like me you will want lollipop hands no matter what. For $6-7k you can get a good one that should be correct from what I can tell. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

Yep I saw them (revised my response above)! My budget is about 5-7, and ideally a blue with lollipop hands. The hunt is on!

Tudor 76100 Inquiry - Production Dates and Hand Question
I think the 76100 is the current sweet spot for the Tudor Sub range when considering price/collectibility.
Anything snowflake is being snatched up and seem to have taken off price wise. When I learned about the history of the snowflake hand I really wanted an original watch fitted with those hands/dial. I think should Tudor drop a lollipop hand watch in March you would see stupid prices follow, so if you want one it may be a good time to buy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
