If I can only hold on to 1 watch: keep 1675 or 16520 black?

Hi guys,

I have an opportunity to buy a well worn 16520 black zenith at 22,000.

But my wife insist that I need to sell the 1675 mk5 with a really nice insert to make way for it.

Which will you choose? Keep my current 1675 or sell it and buy the 16520 black?

Pic for your reference please.

Keep the GMT and save longer for the Daytona.

Need photos of the Daytona, but based on that 1675, it’s going to have to be pretty damned nice!

Keep that gmt at all costs. The zenith will come later and, the novelty of ownership would wear off and, you’ll miss the hell out of that beautiful GMT you have there. I would only do it if you’re a one-watch-guy. And, even then, think it over first. The zenith is an entirely different wearer, dressier and, well, its a Daytona. I use my zenith usually as a more formal occasion piece. A sports watch it may be by name but, it isn’t in reality.

Thanks all for the advice. Please keep it coming. The zenith is a typical black Daytona:

I thought Daytona is the most coveted model ahead of GMT and that's why I am wondering. Thanks!

“Most coveted model”?

Not sure if that’s right and who cares if it is. I buy only what I like most.

Personally, I think your GMT is more special (and beautiful) and I wouldn’t flip.

Can you keep a “small” 22k secret from your wife? Otherwise keep the 1675

That’s a beautiful 1675. I wouldn’t let it go, even though I really like that Daytona.

Keep the GMT and save for the Daytona. That’s what I’d do

Never let that beautiful 1675 go for what is arguably the most over hyped watch on the planet (In my humble opinion)

I like Daytonas. I’ve had two.

But I would never sell that 1675 to buy one

I’d keep the 1675, it’s a beauty. If your tired of it then let it go for the Daytona.

KEEP that beautiful GMT and try to convince your wife that the Daytona is a good investment that is revalued every day and that selling the GMT would be a mistake.

Listening to a bunch of strangers with such an undisputed response has validated my decision to keep my 1675.

You guys are awesome. Thanks again!

1675 is irreplaceable

The age individually and therefore unique.

Those Daytona’s all look “pretty much” the same

I would keep the GMT and discuss with the wife the Daytona market and the value of the watch. Not an investment but a good place to park some money and have an item that can be used. If she will not budge then just sit tight and save.

Find a second wife, so that you can add the Daytona without the need to flip your GMT.

Of course i am joking.
I would keep the gmt if i were you, since you have been through with it for all these years.

That Daytona is great but I would not let your 1675 go to get it. I'm a huge Daytona fan but I really love vintage GMT's too. This would be a tough decision for me. I would keep yours and find some way to buy the Daytona as well. If not, I would pass as I wouldn't be able to let go of that beautiful GMT!
