Great video and a scary situation with evolving fakes
I am sorry if this has been posted before. I tried searching.
Someone posted this article, which includes a great video of how the fakes have evolved, featuring 116500. I love his last sentences that say something like ".., reward, motivation, joy. you may be able to fake the watch, but can you fake the way it makes you feel?" https://www.highsnobiety.com/p/fake-...ytona-vs-real/ Keep your eyes open, folks!

Watchfinder & Co. makes some great content! This video really impressed me with the attention to detail these fakes are trying to achieve.

It's only a matter of time until replicas are exactly that, 1:1 replicas with NO flaws. The only takeaways here are you'd need a loupe to see the differences unless you had them both side by side. You wouldn't find me dead with a replica but there are plently of people who dont "act their wage" and will rush to find whichever chinese Daytona is featured in this video.
On a side note: i love Watchfinder & Co.'s videos. Excellent narrator and very informative content |

Really scary... still the fugazi is a G as per video. My concern is unscrupulous folks selling them off as real... great video.

Agree with all the above. This also lends a little credence into the theory of how much variable cost there is in a SS Rolex... Of course, variable cost this doesn't take into account the R&D, advertising, ambassador costs, etc. associated with running a legit business.

I think this explains the other thread with "everyone wears a Rolex" and "I see them everywhere".

Yeah, and someone will sell this for upwards of 20k.
There are a ton of people who won't do their research and find out they are out of a lot of money. So sad.

Yep, even the movements are being decorated in ways to make them look free sprung.

With a classic 10X jeweler loop , it is not very hard to recognize the fake one from it’s Crown on the dial and the red Daytona script .

I could tell which was fake from the preview image.
When the caseback was opened it was more obvious. While these are good, it's better to be an informed consumer. |

With the high value of Rolexes. If someone was competent enough you could see someone making near exact copies & still making a hefty profit. Was the laser etching of the crystal Rolex’s way fo making something that could not be counterfeited ?

LEC is nearly perfectly counterfeited now

I’ve read many times no discussing details and now we have a video posted showing exacting details in the best macro video you’re likely to see from one of the biggest dealers! Just goes to show they’re not worried the fakers don’t know what they’re doing. Mind you it is laughable to think the people at the top of this chain need our help on the forums to tell what the differences are. The threads in this section with some of the people declaring what’s real or not with such conviction and then never to be seen after they’re proven wrong. [sarcasm] At least now we don’t have to worry about letting them know where they’re going wrong, they have it in HD [/sarcasm] |

I would like to know how Rolex fights this. I keep reading articles on how fakes are flooding the market and getting more accurate but nothing on how to combat it and crack down.

LEC, REHAUT and in house design, but counterfeiters can do all these things in time. The LEC is 95% achieved and REHAUT 100% in many cases A

I honestly think Rolex doesn’t really care that much about counterfeits. I don’t think they’re losing sales, 99% of people who would knowingly buy a counterfeit would never buy a real one. In some ways buying a fake might inspire someone to save up for the real deal.
I think luxury companies go through the appearances of fighting fakes but wonder how hard they really try. I was in New York recently and it’s amazing how openly the sellers hawk their wares along Canal St, mostly purses. I think the authorities go more for catching the wholesalers bringing containers of fakes into the country, less for the “retailers” on the street. |

We know well where the huge counterfeit watch companies are in China and we do nothing. Why? It’s such an important market we turn a blind eye Well maybe Trump does not

Thanks for the heads up T. Looks like the only way to be sure is to go the AD route.

Probably true about the those buyers. Rolex already sells everything they make if you consider it’s all shipped to ADs and the sales are booked. But they do care about brand value methinks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Probably not very long before the movements look identical. The case and dial of these fake Daytona’s is alarmingly close to the original!

Rolex, Omega, Breitling all now make their own in-house movements with technologies that can not be copied. Even the Panera 9000 movements - you can easily tell

Also, we should note the serial number on the fake in the vid...so we can cross check it when a questionable Daytona comes up for sale on ebay etc..

Why? Fakes use multiple serial numbers too.

In a weird way, Rolex profits from the counterfeit market. The increasing fear of fake parts finding their way into real watches pushes more and more Rolex owners to only have their watches serviced at RSC. Independent service centers will become a thing of the past and Rolex will reap all the rewards.

I thought the "Daytona" on the dial looks off even from a distance. Other than that the fake is quote good and you would likely need a loupe.
