How does a SBGA229 compare against say...an omega sea master/planet ocean?

Also looking at the SBGA231...any opinions?

I think the SBGA229 beats the Omega in looks, ergonomics, and of course in time keeping.

The Omega beats it in depth rating. IF you are not a saturation diver, I don't think that should much of a worry. The SBGA229 has twice the rating as a Sub and keeps better time.

To me its more comfortable to wear with the slight play built into the bracelet, which gives it more flexibility to the wearer. Much more comfy to wear than my Sub is all day and the Seiko is much heavier.

I have the older model SBGA031 and I like it quite a bit. I currently own the Rolex Seadweller. I have owned multiple Submariners, a Planet Ocean, a Ploprof, and a Seamaster. I think the GS holds it's own with most of them. I think it is most like the titanium Seamaster that I used to own. It is very different than most of the rest. You should probably try one on if possible to see how it feels. It is definitely a high quality watch and will keep better time than any of the others. I am a Professional Diver and dive a lot where I live in Hawaii. I have had this watch in the water several times and it works as well on a dive as it does under a suit cuff (which I do less often than SCUBA diving). It is big, legible, accurate, easy to wind and set, and a capable dive watch for recreational SCUBA.
