Thoughts on Alpina..?
I think there was an ealier post on Alpina by "jas55" but couldn't find much feedback about it.
From the bit of reading I've done it sounds like quite a respectable watch house with a bit of history but not that well known... But I LOVE the look of their watches - especially this one: Much appreciate anyone elses thoughts on the brand or what you think of the look.. |

They are a couple thousand new
Horrid resale. Quality build. If you like the look go for it but get a good deal! I think they look much better in pics, the case just is a weird shape in person. BUT Its what YOU like that matters! If you like it PLEASE post pics and a review.

I saw them in person - I think they're an AWESOME watch for the price. Being in the same price-point as a Tag - I would DEFINITELY go for an Alpina!

Hi Oscar - I think this particular one ("Regulator Series") is around $US 4K... which I guess is reasonable but not super-cheap. I think they also have models such as the "Avalanche" series which around $US 2K - and that is quite reasonable...

Thanks Adadtiger - I sporty look is what appeals to me too. Haven't actually seen one in person either so will have to check it out and report back. Stay tuned!

i'm wondering how many of these 'fringe' brands are going to fail if this current global economic downturn keeps up. right now i'd only buy the products of the really strong players. if Alpina fails, who is going to service that new in-house movement of theirs and where will one find the parts. i think one needs to consider these things when forking over big $$$ for a watch. i'm not saying it's not a good brand, i just think that there are other products out there that are just as good and are a safer bet in terms of SAV (service apres-vent).
