Listen up Tudor, here is what you NEED to do...

The GMT launch has been a cluster. You sent out watches for 6 months or more with a faulty movement and then take 2-4 months to fix them and some require multiple fixes. It’s hopefully over now, except for the random few whom are unfortunate enough to have older ones and will be forever wonder when theirs is going to skip days. Not if....when.

After the lume falling out on the Pelagos and now the GMT issues, see how many flock to buy your latest technology if you don’t do something to correct it.

Some have said to give thank you swag with the return...yep.
Some have asked for extension on warranties...yep.

But what about the rest, what about the ones lurking out there with a ticking time bomb on their wrist? What about those contemplating buying one now, but have those nagging reservations due to the bad publicity for so long now.

Here it is.
For ALL in-house movements immediately extend the warranty period to 3 years on all new purchases. 5 would be best, but you could get away with 3. For GMT’s retro that back to the very first one..yes ALL will have 3 years of coverage no matter when it was purchased. An extra long warranty will ease the mind of those who have purchased one already, those who will in the future, and those who had to sacrifice 2-4 months of the current warranty period in service.

Also, as an added bonus, the extra long coverage will help the brand stand out. It is becoming a premium watch, which needs a premium warranty. It will also help you remain competitive with Omega who went to 5 years.

I want you to stay cutting edge, I want you to keep pushing materials and design; but we have to know you will be there in the long run if something goes wrong.

Notice it is only for in-house, ETA movements can still have less because they are at a lower price point.

They don't know how to do half links and more micro-adjustment on the clasps, don't think they will know how to do better warranty.

I don’t see why they don’t already give a 5 year warranty like Rolex...

I was unaware of this. Now I won't even consider a Tudor, they're already subpar to Omega anyway. The issues + warranty puts them as a non-factor in my book. Bye.

Sorry. Don't agree. Love my Tudor 58. Over 1 year of ownership and it hasn't missed a beat. It's my third T and I never had a problem with any.

The 58 doesn't have a date function for it to go wrong.

Except one is a design issue the other an administrative decision.

Had a Chrono without a date problem. Besides it's an issue that didn't affect all watches and has been resolved at no cost to the consumer. It's obviously not affecting sales either. But if you don't want one then that's your decision.

Omega, Brietling, Rolex, Tag Heuer, Seiko, Cartier have all had minor issues and I expect minor issues will continue. For some people when they are directly affected it will turn them off.

Well now that you’ve laid down the law, Tudor really has no choice but to step up and follow this gem of a post to the letter. If not, they will surely be closing the doors very soon.

My biggest gripe with the Black Bay series. It’s a great watch, (speaking for the ETA as I have no experience with their in house movements) but a dive watch without a diver’s extension at the price point is absurd. Even $200 Seikos have better bracelet adjustability AND diver’s extension.

Tudors were better when they were actually made by Rolex.

But of course, when Tudor were made by Rolex, they weren't then either because Rolex didn't make anything, they had contracts with suppliers.

Any links to this Pelagos lume falling out thing?

Personally, I find the Pelagos to be the best value dive watch on the market. It’s also excellent on an absolute scale with all its features and overall quality. Prefer it to my old 114060.

Tudor need a really well designed chronograph though. The current one misses the mark for me. The dial is too dive watch in appearance, and it could lose the date too.

A friend of mine has an ETA Pelagos that the lume fell out of a bezel number. Rolex Service Center Dallas quickly replaced the bezel insert. I believe his watch was a little out of warranty and they still covered it.

I have had my Pelagos (in-house movement) for 4 years and have had zero issues. Tudor makes a great watch, and Rolex has one of the best service networks around!

Tried on a pelagos at AD. Bezel wouldn't turn properly. AD just shrugged. I'd rather have a Seiko.

This is a silly thread, isn’t it? I bought my Tudor Heritage BB 41 not knowing any of this. To me, now, it makes no difference as I think Tudor makes fine watches.

I don’t believe there are reports of lume issues with in house Pelagos’. They seem to have addressed that years ago. It would be great if Tudor fixed GMT’s out of service, and that may be their plan.

If you don’t like Tudor, that’s fine, but let’s not make them out to be riddled with issues. I had the GMT problem, and it was fixed. It took longer than I’d like, but who really cares? I have other watches to wear in the meantime. Now that it’s back, I absolutely love it.

Now I do wish that Tudor included the Pelagos clasp on Black Bays as well.

Hell of good looking watch for me, the sudo riveted bracelet its class. Proper old skool, which should have made it the headmaster of the school.

However understand the problems they have had with the date change and that. Kind of puts them back into the reception class or 1's as it was when i was at school.

On my wish list for the future though.

Tudor can bit a bit tight on first few turns. I got my 58 when it first came into Australia. The AD hadn't even opened the see through plastic shipping box.
