Has anyone actually dived in a TT or PM watch before?

I’m going to go scuba diving for the first time and was wondering if I should wear my Bluesy...only watch I have and I think it would be cool to bring it with me, but don’t want to risk damaging it just to take an IG pic. Thoughts?

Chances are for your first time you're not going that deep, and diving is what your bluesy was made for. Besides, PM are even better at resisting corrosion than SS. As far as damage, that would be a conversation. Check it out, "I got this on my very first dive...!" If you're worried about the locals, buy a Prospec Seiko for $300 and call it a day.

Yes since gold is such a soft metal depending on how deep you go you may squish and flatten the gold on the actual DIVER. Lol, be careful out there

I never did - Not for any fear of damage, but just because barracudas get curious about shiny things ...

I wore a TT black Sub for many years and it saw a number of dives. Never a problem.

Well... I taught diving for many years. And here are my thoughts.

The actual dive will do nothing to the watch. At most you are going to an additional 2 Atm of pressure (20 M) and your sub is good for 30 Atm/300 M. An Invicta would survive. BUT... There are lots of things to bang your watch into along the way.

If it is a shore dive then you could hit some rocks accidentally on the way in or out. If you are on a boat there are tanks and weight belts and such. Most new students are kind of task loaded thinking about the dive so your "wrist awareness" might not be what it usually is. Newer students tend to move their arms around more as they sort out the feeling of weightlessness and getting stable underwater.

If you do a check out in a pool first, again, there will be a lot of hard surfaces like the pool itself, other students gear and so on.

My 2 cents. But any dings might be worth the story and experience that go with them. The most important thing is have fun with your dive! If worrying about your watch will interfere with that, than leave it home.

I did for about 8 years. Bluesy is a excellent dive watch. You have to dive with it now or you’ll be a hypocrite.
I make it a point to dive with every dive watch I own. The experience and bonding in a real world activity is what makes the watch yours. Go make memories.

the watch will be fine but it will take some knocks as you are a new diver. I dive with my subs every time I go but even after 500 plus dives things get knocked around so be prepared for that but - your watch will survive!

Good to know your TT didn't "squish" at depth.

Has anyone actually dived in a TT or PM watch before?

I took a 1970s TT 1601 diving multiple times because I left the Seiko or Sub in the hotel. I am sure your 16613 will be perfectly fine being marketed as a dive watch and all...

BTW there are other things to worry about as a new diver under water instead of your TT watch’s ability to survive under water...(which can stay submerged for a much much longer time than you ever could)

I have been certified since around 1989 or so. I am sure I took my Sub down hundreds of times (I stopped counting dives at the 200 mark or so)....

But in the past 15 years, I wore a computer in its place. (suunto DB9 was the previous, now the Suunto Ion steel)
Wear it if you want, but I doubt you would use the bezel as intended

It's clearly unnecessary as a diving instrument these days, but there is a lot of psychic pleasure is seeing your Bluesy undersea for its intended use.

I have done over 500 dives in total.

I have dived countless times with my Pt DD as my backup watch as i forgot to change over to my Submariner.

I am qualified to 50mts and no harm has ever come to either watch.

I was standing waist deep in a lake the other day and had my watch hand in the water. A fish hit my finger like it was a worm and I'm convinced that it was the shiny object on my wrist that made it all happen!

The fact that we're discussing if it's okay to dive with a dive watch is a little concerning but this point is well taken by me as are all the cool pics.

Wow.....you guys kill me....
you know it's a diving watch, right?
But i have noticed and it's just my opinion...
If you get a Rolex and think it's a piece of jewelry and not a watch, you will treat as jewelry!
But if you got it...because it's a watch and you intend to wear it, you will treat as a watch...ohh an expensive one...but still....you will be enjoying it because its a tool watch to be admired and respected...plus it looks great in it's element, wet, dirty, sweaty,muddy..under water...riding the waves...ohh..i often look at it and smile...because it makes me happy...and to know others have felt the same way as i have....

Did you buy the dive watch version or the more typical jewelry version?

The watch is made to dive in. Just remember it is easy to scratch it on the metal gear and brushing up against anything hard under water.
