Daytona ceramic white vs black dial

Hey guys, any idea which ceramic Daytona will look smaller on the wrist? White or black dial?

White gives the appearance of a larger watch face to my eye. Same as in the Explorer 2, Milgauss and other references

I feel like the white dial looks smaller because it doesn't flow into the black bezel. It's all just a perception issue though, and as such, pretty subjective.

I was thinking the same thing, but it’s weird because it goes against the general rule of black dial looks smaller.

Had both in my hand recently and white definitely wears smaller.

I don't really know if that applies when it's surrounded by a big black bezel. At least to me it looks smaller. On a thinner steel bezel it is a different story.

Daytona ceramic white vs black dial

Will it look ridiculous On my 7.75” wrist?? My gmt is right on the edge of being too small, even the bracelet is at its biggest notch. I heard the Daytona’s wear smaller than gmt?

I have an 8" wrist and yes, the Daytona wears very small. Much smaller than the GMT and Sub. It's also very slim.

My wrist is smaller than yours and the black dial looks fine on my wrist .

It looks OK, but definitely on the smaller side, so it takes some getting used to whenever I wear it. On the plus side it's a nice dress watch that fits under a shirt cuff easily, so it fills that purpose in my collection.

They’re the same size. An illusion won’t make it so. The Daytona is the smallest Rolex sports model given its dimensions.

But even with the black bezel and dial combo? Would the dial and bezel not fade into each other making it look bigger? I have small wrists so I’m looking for the smallest appearance.

Can’t say.

I’ve only owned the white one and from my experience it wears smaller than 40mm.

If you buff off the pcl it’ll get less attention. Might help if you want it to appear smaller.

Daytona ceramic white vs black dial

I went for the White dial. I like how the white pops yet is contained by the ceramic bezel. It is also much more legible.

As far as optical illusion based on color? I do not notice a real perceivable difference, as I have compared both. For reference, This is mine on my 7.25’’ wrist.

The ceramic bezel on the Daytona is 38.5mm so either one will wear small compared to a 40mm Sub or GMT since the size is indeed smaller. If your AD gives you a choice, buy whichever color you prefer.

I've owned both and the white dial looks smaller to me than the black but not by a large margin. I'd still buy based on color preference rather than apparent size.

Good luck!

White wears smaller as your focus is drawn to the smaller white dial. With the black you see the whole diameter to include the bezel, so it appears larger.

Beautiful shot. It actually looks quite large on your 7.25 wrist

After seeing both in person recently, I’m glad I took the black when I was offered two years ago. It wears very stealthy and goes with everything. but I’m still waiting for my AD to call when a white dial comes in.
