Would you trade a 5205 For a 5230 NY

So I just bought a 5205G blue dial. I was going to give it to myself for my birthday. I got it two weeks ago and locked it up.

I have a deal for a 5230G New York limited edition for a bit less than other folks are trying to get for it. It’s NIB.

It would require me coming out of pocket another 15 or so.

So would you do it?

Think the 5230LE is going to appreciate and the 5205 won’t?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

I wouldn’t because I think the 5205G blue dial is a more beautiful watch.

I agree. I’m from NY. The 5230 link is kind of sentimental. More importantly the issue is a buy and sell a lot.

I wonder if the NY will Alora it’s from its list price? Not the 10-12K over list that people are trying to get.

It's hard to predict the future values of watches. The 5205 although not limited, may be discontinued one day too. Buy the one you like.

I may consider buying another 5205 if that is the case. However, I don't think there will be a salmon for this variant - the premium is not high enough. I know they have done that in the past on ACs but there are several other more complicated models that Patek can leverage on, one being the 5327. The new 5172 maybe, but not so soon.

For sure. Not looking to make money. Just hate taking baths when I dump watches. I try to buy what I like but knowing my selling habit I rather buy something with a little protection.

I think I’m going to keep the 5205.

If you are 105 years old in retirement home wearing an ascot and sock-less penny loafers, and or want a matching watch, keep the 5205. Otherwise, get the icon.
