Current "big case" 40mm GMT vs older 40mm 16710

For those people who have both, could they kindly tell me if the current GMT wears exactly the same as the older 16710?

In partic if the Jubilee bracelet makes it wear a bit smaller...?

I've had a 16710 with the old rattly oyster bracelet on my wrist and it wears great on my puney little wrists, but I simply have never actually seen a current GMT.. let alone had the chance to put one on.

They are simply unicorns here. They aren't even available as demos...And if one shows up on a local grey dealers website (who actually has a bricks and mortar store).. they are gone before you get a chance to go in and check em out..

Would appreciate the help. The new Pepsi on a jubilee looks a mighty fine watch!

New Ceramic GMT II wears a little taller on the wrist than the 16710, it's slightly heavier, and the trip-lock winding crown, reminds me of a Sub.

I'm after that Pepsi on Jubilee as well. Had the chance to try it on recently and it wears great on a tiny wrist like you and I have. Partly due to the Jubilee bracelet I'd say, but the case size really wasnt too large at all, I really thought it would wear a lot larger than it did, it was surprising actually. I think the lugs are fairly short as well, they did not stick out from the wrist which I hate. I have a 6.5 inch wrist.

They definitely don't wear the same. It's not night and day, but a noticeable difference. I have a 7" wrist and both watches are very comfortable, but the 16710 is almost like second skin. You don't even know the watch is on your wrist.

I wear both my 126710 and 16710 on jubilee and I think it's probably the most comfortable bracelet.

Except, that in the winter I can't quite get the perfect fit on my Super jubilee (for the 16710) and since there's no micro adjustments there's not much I can do but wait till summer to throw it back on. When it fits right though, it's really comfy.

The 16710 wears better IMHO. It’s smaller and lighter. Yes the bracelet isn’t a “solid” but I find the old bracelets and especially clasps more comfortable. If you have a 16710 I wouldn’t bother with the new one. Just my take though.

It does wear slightly larger but really not all that noticeable after an hour or two on the wrist. Not an issue as far as I’m concerned.

To a great extent whatever you wear you’ll get used to, but as an owner of both I’d have to say the 16710 is a perfect daily. The 116710 is nice for a weekend or so but a much to wear all the time, and that’s more of a visual thing, it’s pretty comfy, but still not as comfy as a 16710 on Jubilee.

I have both versions. The six digit definitely wears bigger, most noticeable is that it is taller. I much prefer the 5 digit as I find it more comfortable to wear over extended time and cosmetically it looks better proportioned.

126710 definitely wears larger. The 16710 just feels right in nearly any situation. A true classic!

It is a common misconception to think that the only difference is the size of the lugs (since both 5 digits and 6 digits are "40mm").

For me the biggest difference is the build quality, especially the bracelet and clap. That's what makes me think 6digits are far superior to 5 digits.

Yes the maxi-cases make the watch look bigger, but honestly that's minor compared to the over build quality of the watch.

The new pepsi on a jubilee watch case thickness is somewhere between the super case GMT II and the old version 16710.

Please search for BATMAN AND BATGIRL. You will see the differences.

Jubilee is used to emphasize the differences which will turn to a new Oyster bracelet soon and it will be fully brushed.

Thinner lugs make it feel a bit smaller, and not the jubilee bracelet.

However, the first fixed link of the jubilee bracelet is noticably smaller than the Oyster one. So fitting an oyster bracelet on a batgirl or pepsi wont work. There will be a improper look between the fixed link and lugs as it wont fit right which also shows that the case is a bit thinner.

The older GMT II 16710 is a very comfortable watch. It lies like sticky, very comfortable. I only wore it on an oyster, but it seems to be just as good on Jubilee. It is perfectly proportional. The newer 116710 is better finished, it has a more massive bracelet and easylink. It has a thicker envelope, wider ears, and after many hours you can feel it on your hand. I didn't have the pleasure to hold the latest version on Jubilee :(

Beautiful watches both of them.
My heart goes to the older one though.

I won't wear the larger cased watches; they don't look or feel right on me with my 6.5in wrist. Many will at that size but I've drawn the line. That leaves me to Daytonas, OPs, Milgausses, DD, DJs, and of course five digit models.
