Crazy Times & New Collection
18 months ago I went into a local family Jewler who is a Rolex dealer to buy an engagement ring. I introduced myself, told them what I wanted in the ring and mentioned my interest in starting a Rolex collection. He was polite but explained how scarce things were but assured me he would keep me in mind for several models I mentioned.
Time goes by, happy wife, I check in periodically at the jewler nothing available. Fast forward to earlier this week. Out of the blue call.... "Would you be interested in buying "a block" of watches from the list you previously provided"? Note they have been closed by the state govt for a month now. I said sure but depends on models, price details etc.... After lots of back and forth he sold me the 6 pictured (all or none) at list on the steel models less 20% for the gold and less 30% for platinum. Agreed that he needed to take stickers off so I wouldn't resell away from him, but I could sell any back at my cost once he was allowed to reopen. I am excited but afraid he may know something I don't about the market once things "normalize".... |
