I made a second video: unboxing the 5196r

Hi everyone

You gave me some great feedback on my first video, and you seemed to like it, so I made another on my other Patek, the 5196r.

I tried to take on board your kind constructive feedback, which was, roughly:
- More close ups;
- Upgrade from flower pot to Chinese tripod;
- More cheerful music;
- Look at upgrading software;
- Practice my “moves” (to avoid aggressive and slightly embarrassing crown pulling).

What do you think? Your kind feedback is very welcome.

Where is your updated video of the 5164A with closeups?

Thank you! I really appreciate the compliment.

This is my very first Patek, which I bought in 2017. It has aged well, even though I wear it fairly often.

I have a small wrist: 15.8 cm, or 6.22 inches. Hence why a 37mm watch is good for me.

Haha, I want to get better at those videos before doing one worthy of the 5164. Next I’ll do my first actual review, probably of a less known and cheaper brand (thinking Orion), and work my way up.

I’m finding it great fun. Advice very welcome for improvements

I personally didn't enjoy this video at all. I will mention rubbing the box for like 10 seconds was pretty lame and weird most of the video was actually packaging, you can say I'm biased and we'll leave it at that since I despise "unboxing" videos.

Thanks - this is useful feedback. I don’t like print marks and that box is a magnet for them, but I’ll edit out next time or restrain myself.

Edit: I made a much shorter version with almost no packaging. Do you think that’s the better way? https://youtu.be/9OLvDrNZS0M

I liked the setup, sound, lighting and speed of the video. The only thing that I found strange is that you show the watch about 100 times before opening the box, it kinda defeats the purpose of an unboxing video right

Also the obligatory photo camera in the shot could be replaced with something else

For the rest, nice video !

It's a little better, more watch less boxes papers and rubbing. Sine you asked, I didn't like the natural lighting, it doesn't work well and is too bright which leads to another issue, fingerprints and scuffs showing on the watch.

I like this guys video if you want to see a good example:

I think he is a member here.

Thanks for that! I really appreciate the feedback and comments.

Personally, I’m quite keen on keeping the natural light because I like how it adds glow, although I agree with you that it shows off all the dust and nicks.

I could be deluded though, and keen to hear what others think.

Thanks also for sharing the video, although unfortunately I got an error - I’d appreciate it if you could give me the name of the author so I can look this up.

Encouragingly, he left his early videos - give me 3 years and I’m at his level ;). Best thing: it will provide an excuse to buy more watches.
