RSC UK fail follow up
For those that don't know the story, I took my LV for service via AD & with explicit instructions to RSC not to polish the watch but they did.
So got the call yesterday to collect my Kermit after servicing. I've attached a couple of before and after pictures of my watch. As can clearly see the polished watch has lost all of it original sharp edges and has gained the infamous Bexley bevel. Even the definition of the Rolex crown on the clasp has diminished. The AD was very apologetic but it wasn't their fault. I was offered a few incentives to soften my disappointment but as for RSC, still waiting to hear back from them. It’s so annoying when firm instructions given are overlooked, don’t know if you will have the same feeling for the watch now, on the upside to me it doesn’t look too bad but it’s not my watch, hope they compensate you well (as previous post) but whatever they do it may not be enough to bring back the love, please let us know the outcome.

I think it looks better AFTER the polish. But, it’s not my watch.

My watch gained the Bexley Bevel many years ago now, but it has annoyed me ever since. Back then, I didn't know very much about polishing or the process, I just took my watch for a service as I thought it was the right thing to do. Anyway, when I got it back it came as a big and quite unpleasant surprise that the case shape had changed so much.
For a long time now, my plan was to have as much of the original case shape as possible restored via laser welding. I originally though that shipping my watch to Rolliworks in the USA was the only option, which I was always a little anxious about. Anyway, I've now found Watchworks in Bristol. My watch is booked in with them for a service and laser welding. It will never be 'unpolished', but if all goes to plan, at least the shape of the case will be more sympathetic to that which left the factory in Geneva. I'll post up the result when the work is done. |

Besides the case, the crown Guards also appears to thin down quite a bit

That really sucks... I, too, once had a rather disappointing experience with RSC U.K. and their default mode was to deny any wrongdoing.
Luckily my AD stood by me and covered all the associated costs but it still wasn't a pleasant experience overall, especially given how much time and energy I've wasted going backwards and forwards. In your case, I don't know what RSC would be able to offer at this stage (maybe a refund of the service cost?) but I hope you conclude this situation in a satisfactory manner. Please do keep us posted. |

I suppose they are very flippant with the bracelets since they must see millions of them.
But its unfortunate if they polished when you didn't want them to. |

Had that with my Sub 16610. Went in for a service and I did ask for it to be polished but the crown on the clasp they virtually took down so it is non existent.

wow even the top crown guard is pointy and rounded... You would think It was made at Rolex and will come back looking like it came off the production line. And what happened to the pearl?

This may be controversial, but the 2 images are taken in different light, at different angles with a slightly different background colour behind crown.
Without the background, 99% of people would struggle to see the difference. This takes nothing away from your disappointment, but get what you can from Rolex and sell it on. The majority of potential buyers would be delighted with what looks like a brand new watch. It really is only a few lunatics that obsess over this. How many of the population even know what a Bexley Bevel is?

When I read most the complaints on here I tend to think ‘get a grip’! But I would be spitting feathers over this one. Will be interesting to see what RSC come back with.

I was hoping that you were going to be ok, with the polish, when you received your watch back.
But I can see, why you are upset, I hope the RSC has something constructive to help. |

I am almost afraid to ask as it might put you over the edge...
Did they also leave you a small “gift” in the form of a dust speck on your dial? Hopefully the white dot is on the crystal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Personally I'd have asked for the original back. This is the bit that shows true patina. I had a Pepsi and prior to service I removed it so they put in a new insert and didn't take the old one... they still charge the same.
As for the polishing... don't worry about it. Wear the watch and enjoy it. It's only the forum hype that you 'shouldn't get it polished'... for me, it looks great and ready to accommodate some fresh memories. |

One of the reasons Im reluctant to use RSC.
I feel for you. It means nothing that some say it looks better polished. You wanted to keep this watch unpolished and they messed it up badly.

Not acceptable. I would ask for a new case.

For sure! Unfortunately I think the best offer you will get from RSC is maybe offering to pay for the service... I still think that is a stretch too. In their eyes they did nothing wrong and probably even made it “better”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
