Inherited Rolex - Help identifying model?

Hi everyone! Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

I recently inherited a Rolex from my grandfather who passed. I was trying to figure out what model it is and I figured to ask people much more knowledgable than myself.

Looks like a 1607 that had the bezel swapped from a “bark” finish bezel to a fluted bezel (like the one on the ref. 1601). If you remove the bracelet you can see the model number between the lugs. If you want an indication of value, you can go to Chrono24.com and do a model search

It's a 1601 with some sort of cobbled up bracelet. The links look to be aftermarket, the way the stretch is appearing is very non Rolexian. Rolex links stretch quite evenly. Can't really tell about the authenticity of the clasp but that type clasp was never on that type bracelet.

A bracelet of that style is always precious metal from Rolex and would never be found on a SS watch like this one. Rolex gold watches are no hole cases from that era.

Looks like a nice well loved 1601 with lots of grandpa DNA on it. :)

Those bark links look like the same color as the bezel, most likely white gold from an old Day/Date bracelet, cobbled together with a stainless clasp and end links. Probably a watchmakers special.
Super cool bracelet if thats the case. I agree, the head looks like a 1601

Very confused by this. Standard 1601 Datejust, but the bark bracelet is for a WG Day-Date 1807, not a 1601, and the end links (the parts that join the bracelet to the watch case) aren't right for either the bracelet or the case.

Bracelet appears to have approx. 15 links, which would fit only a very small wrist, but white gold President *bark* links are truly unobtanium. If genuine, the bracelet is worth way, way more than the watch itself.

If genuine, that white gold bark President bracelet is very uncommon - My guess is that those who wanted the more subtle white gold didn’t want the sparkly bling of bark, and vice versa.

The tough part, as mentioned above, would be finding any more links for this, if one needed a larger bracelet than this.

Here’s my 18249 white/bark, this is roughly the type of watch and bezel which came with this type of bracelet.
