Because in the average joe’s eyes, they are too simple and entry-level. Most don’t care as long it is flashy and says ”Rolex” on it, so they opt in for the more popular, copied models to get that imaginary acceptance from your peers, and to rock dat pimp look.
Just kidding. Dunno. They’re great and underappreciated watches. Great shot as well! |

Definitely by far the best OP dial.
My Favourite Rolex watch too. It's the only one I really fancy. |

Great looking watch. The new OP41 with black dial is my favorite of the new 2020 Oyster Perpetual releases. The new OP 41mm watches have only been out for a few months, are as popular as the new SS Subs, are likely arriving in steady but low quantities, and thus only small numbers of customers have been able to acquire them. The previous OP39 models were only produced for approx 2 years, and so by definition only small numbers are likely out there. I personally never saw either the black or white OP39 at my AD in all of 2018 or 2019. I believe we will eventually be seeing more and more Oyster Perpetuals (in all colors) on the wrists of fans throughout the next few years. There's a lot to like about this model line. Classically beautiful designs, clarity and simplicity of visual layout, rugged & robust engineering, and great price points.

There's probably a lot out there, just not here on TRF
Also probably many are going for the more colorful dials. Personally I'd pass on the black OP and go for the colorful dials myself. BUT If I HAD to chose black and simple watch, I'd chose Exp1 over OP black |

I like it... but already have plenty of black-dial pieces.

Wow, that's a beautiful pic! I don't think there's any style of Rolex more classic than a black dial combined with a stainless steel bracelet. Endlessly versatile and so clean. I was actually just reading this article ranking the best black dial Rolexes; I'm sure you guys will appreciate: https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-bl...e-watches.html
"Black dial models are often among the most versatile and understated in any watchmaker’s catalog, and arguably none more so than Rolex. A black dial is the perfect choice for a more low-key aesthetic, and coupled with the elegant lines of the watch’s profile, gives us an end product that is both understated and beautifully stylish." Very informative and tons of awesome pics! |
