Platinum Daytona standard vs baguette dial
Recently bought a new platinum Daytona from my local AD, and I love this piece. Will never part with it. I have the option to switch to the diamond baguette dial via Rolex service, I'm guessing for around 5k or so. I love both dials and I'm having a hard time choosing between the standard dial I already have which has the contrasted subdials and lumed hour markers which I enjoy, but I also love the look of the solid ice blue dial and diamond hour markers. Can't really go wrong with either, but I would appreciate some guidance if anyone has experienced both and developed a preference.

I personally am not a big bling guy but I think the baguettes look awesome on that dial just my opinion.

You have to change the hands as well, I believe.
Not a fan of diamond markers but I too prefer the solid ice blue dial |

Both are excellent timepieces but since you already have non baguette dial, I think it would be better to keep it just like that.
If you have a chance to get another one with baguette dial from the boutique/AD, get it. Later on if you want to keep only one, you can sell it at a big gain. For me if I have both I will keep them both.

The baguettes on the platinum models with with the ice dial looks just right. The all blue dial is worth. I went the next step with a black ceramic dial from a WG. I just don’t like the brown.

I love the platinum Daytona with the baguettes. If you are going that big, then go all the way. If I were to get one it would be with baguettes. I do not like the chocolate sub dials.

I paid 7.1k USD (30% deposit initially) and waited about a month and then when I got the call from RSC that the dial was ready, I went back to upgrade the dial. Of course they didn't let me keep the non-baguette dial as they had to keep that and send it back to Rolex in Swiss. But upgrading the dial to the baguette one is the best decision I made, truly a stunning dial and watch. |

I too own the standard platona and would never swap the standard for the baguette, but would consider acquiring the baguette as an extra.
Brown subdials all the way. It’s a functional watch, not a pretty bracelet. |

I went with baguette dial. Baguette diamonds are great on the Rolex dial nothing whatsoever like dot diamonds the baguettes make it more masculine in my opinion. Simply bought this one because I though it looked better.

Not a fan of diamonds on a man's watch. Nor of men wearing fur coats. If you by any chance happen to decide to do both at the same time .....well it's best to be a professional mixed martial arts guy or NFL player so nobody questions your manhood (or decides to kick it). I'm not a big fan of bling. I think that one nice thing about the Platinum Daytona is that it's understated and could be easily mistaken for a SS model. That is lost once you guss it up with diamonds. If my wife was going to wear it that would be another story....she might go for that look but I don't.

Hm... I think you're just not enamored with the IDEA of diamonds.
I've actually been around these baguette marker Rolexes. This newish baguette marker style on the daytonas and day date 40s are really subtle. They don't shine as much as one thinks and aren't as gussed up as you think. The diamonds used on there are emerald cut without that many facets. The polished center links and case sides actually shine more than the diamonds. If they kept the contrasting subdials I think it would be more appealing to me. But you really can't tell they're diamonds unless you ask the guy to stand still/hold still and look at it from like 1 ft away. The watch itself has plenty of polished facets and even the dial itself is a shiny sunburst. Quote:

Baguette Dial Platinum Daytona is the way to go IMHO. The blue subdials keep the main dial constant beautiful blue and the baguette diamonds accent it perfectly.

I debated both and went with non baguettes. I just love the contrast of the brown subdial with the brown bezel! If only they did that plus baguettes

Buy the baguette from the AD, send it to Rik Dietel Timecare inc, have him do the swap and keep the original dial. You paid for it, why give it back to Rolex?
