Day Date Question
Hi guys...picked up a new day date 36 over the weekend and have a quick question for other DD owners. When wearing the watch, does the part of the buckle/clasp lay centered on your wrist under the bracelet? When wearing mine it definitely shifts to one side of the bracelet. See pic below. You can see the foldable part clearly skewed to one side versus the other.
Is this normal? |

That looks correct. The middle of the clasp should be centered on your wrist, not the crown part.

Sorry...it’s hard to describe but I was asking about the foldable part under the wrist shifting to one side of the bracelet rather than being centered on the under side of the bracelet. As you can see in my pics, the foldable part is clearly visible on one side and not the other because the “flange” if you will is shifting to one side. If that makes any sense.

Maybe this picture will help me ask my question better. The clasp is centered across my wrist from right to left but shifts to one side top to bottom underneath the bracelet. The foldable part isn’t centered under the bracelet from top to bottom, perhaps because of the weight of the watch.

As I said previously, that looks correct.

Thanks. I kind of suspected given the weight and hard to prevent unless wearing super tight like you said. Just wanted to confirm.

if adding/removing 1 link makes it too loose and too tight for your liking i suggest getting a 1.25 link, super helpful for day date bracelets

whoever sized it should have removed links in such a way to account for the clasp being centered on your wrist.
I'd go back and have them adjust this until you are happy.........can't spend this kind of $$ and still have issues. Keep us posted! |

Took me fives times reading this post to understand what you meant lol.
Seems the clasp itself is centered on the wrist, but your concern lies with the actually folding part not being completely hidden under the bracelet as you wear it. Meaning the folding clasp becomes exposed on the sides of the bracelet (North to South in your photo). As Huncho mentioned, I think the only way to fix that is to wear it tighter. |

Oh I think he means the band is sagging and not laying down in a straight line. Yeah our wrists aren’t perfect cylinders, so normal behavior of a flexible bracelet

i just looked at mine and lays just like yours. The part that is closest to the wrist peeks out a little. I got this watch 10 years ago for my 40th birthday, but just started wearing it as a daily when turned 50! :) Enjoy your new watch!

You may also have to experiment moving links form the 6 to the 12 side or vice versa until you get the fit you desire.

It's the other side of the watch that is the business end.
It doesn't matter if the clasp is "centered" or not, the watch as a whole is adjusted for comfort and use.

It also took me a while to understand, you are talking about the two folding clasp sections under the bracelet moving “north to south,” when oriented as in your last photo, right? (Confusion may be because >90% of clasp-position questions seem to be about the *east-west* clasp position, in that orientation.)
On mine, what you describe does not happen: With the clasp closed, I am barely even able to *push* the center hinge as near to the edge of the bracelet as is shown in the first photo of your first post. Perhaps one or both of the clasp hinges are bent or worn? Using the position in your last photo again, there should be little or no “north-to-south” play in either of the clasp hinges (center hinge nor the 12-end hinge), even when it is open. I have seen some well-worn President clasps with the outer “barrel” of the center or 12-end hinge worn almost completely through - How old is the bracelet? Perhaps post photos of both sides of a) the center hinge and b) the hinge at the 12 end of the clasp? |

Hmmmm ... mine are older, 4- and 5-digits, maybe this is an effect in the newer bracelets.

Seems right to me. I wear my watches a bit loose so it can shift a bit but when I wear mine tight it looks like that, what’s important is how it sits on top.
