Emailed my AD about a Pepsi (see response)

I emailed my AD to express my interest in a Pepsi gmt yesterday. My purchase history with this AD is limited to a Kermit that they sold me toward the end of last year.

After the purchase I bought a nice bottle of whiskey for the AD as well as coffee and donuts for the staff to show thanks.

My email:

“Hi!

Hope all is well.

I’ve really been enjoying my sub since you sold it to me, thanks very much once again.

With that said... there is a new void in my life that can only be filled with a Pepsi GMT :)

I know the wait is long, probably very very long, however I would really appreciate if you would put my name down for consideration.

With thanks,”

This was his response to my email.

“Dear (name omitted),

Thank you for your email. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying your beautiful Rolex Submariner.

(AD name omitted) will note your interest and keep you in mind when a GMT-Master II becomes available.

Have a wonderful night!”


I’m excited and encouraged by the response, but thinking it could also be a gentle blow off.

What do you guys think? Maybe some of you guys are better versed in AD language than I am.

I wouldn't get too hyped over a canned response.

Could mean anything honestly. Of course one will become available, but will it become available to you? The AD’s response is pretty generic, but if you got the new Starbucks/Cermit from them you may have a decent chance.

I’m curious if you addressed anyone specific. By the looks of the way they replied, your email did not reach your Sales associate or whomever you dealt with.

Well, to be honest, I wouldn't read much into that response.

But, it's worth noting, they did get you the new Cermit, so it wouldn't be out of the question that they will come through for you again. Good luck,

looks like canned response... and they filled in the blanks on some things.

If you were lucky enough to snag Kermit in 2020 without spend history .... shouldn't getting the BLRO be just as easy?

Yes they cc’d one of the store owners, the gentleman who sold me the Kermit, on the email.

I was on the wait list for a Hulk for a couple years. When it was discontinued they transferred my name to the Kermit and I got one of the first that came in.

I have no other spend history with the AD.

Why wouldn’t you address your email to the person who sold you tryout last watch, instead of replying on a CC? Not railing on you, but just curious.

Also, a personal phone call, or better than that, a visit would be even better.

I emailed the store’s general inbox. I don’t have the owners personal email. I addressed my email to the owner but I omitted his name in my post. They responded to me and CC’d the owner on their response. Hope this clarifies.
