Icon7 GMT Master II Silver/Black and Red face

Hello everyone,
I have a 2-tone, black face, GMT Master II which I purchased in 2001. I love my GMT Master II and always enjoy wearing it. Now, I am ready to get me another one. And my choice is the, GMT Master II silver/black and red face. Unfortunately they no longer sell them brand new since it was taken out of production. A friend of mine even said that it a collector's item now. I have check with a couple of jewelry stores here in San Diego but they no longer carry it. There's a lot on ebay that are selling them used but i do prefer a brand new one. Fake rolexes are just too many sold on any classified adds. Is there a store where I can still purchase it brand new. My other question is, does it matter if it has the 3186 calibration instead of the 3185.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. thanks...Jubilum

Welcome to the forum. Post pics of yours when you get a chance.

The only difference b/w the 3186 and 3185 is the Parachrome spring (I believe) and should not really make much of a difference. You may want to check the for sale section here on this site as on occasion a BNIB GMT will pop up. Not sure why you want to by a second one?

I think when you say black/red face you mean black/red bezel.

The 3186 does have a slight change to the movement (gears). It is a great movement but you will pay a fair amount more. There is nothing wrong as such with the 3135 movement.

If you get one made in the last few years it will not have the lug holes (just something to consider) so the sides of the watch case look a little cleaner.

Anyway, welcome and enjoy.

Hi Mooo

A very warm welcome.

Not sure if you mean the bezel or the dial.

The Red/Black bezel is great but I still think the Red/Blue is stunning.

Last year I bought an used Red/Black since the Red/Blue was totally sold out. The bezel ring can be changed at Rolex SC for $80 (In Japan). Wont be changing this now as I am getting fond of the Red/Black.

My GMT II has the 3185 movement, rock solid and accurate.

Plenty for sale here. Ranging from $4400 to $6000 depending on the age, the condition etc.
